Hi

I have a ticket booked for this coming thursday returning monday bia trainsplit but i cant go now for a personal reason.

However it says the only way i can get a refund is if i have re-booked for a later date. I dont want this - I understand i may have to pay £10 for my refund and thats fine but its only showing as £3.95 and then no option for the rest on a set of tickets that cost me £139.

Ive emailed them but they dont seem very speedy on replying which i understand however with my journey in 2 days i dont want to miss the opportunity to get a refund of any sort before then

any ideas

If you’ve purchased Advance tickets which is likely, there is no right to a refund, only to a change to a different date/time. Flexible tickets can be refunded less an administration fee; these can be refunded after the date of travel so there is no rush as such.

@leyley. Welcome to the forum. What ticket(s) have you purchased? One or more advance singles? Presumably given the overall price paid, this isn't a local journey?

oh i see. Well thats the last time i do this split ticketing thing then as it was only really saving a tenner on the off peak return.

What is the journey and what tickets do you actually have?

The problem is not the ticket splitting, but buying Advance tickets without being aware of the conditions. I am pretty sure that Trainsplit makes these clear but it is always important to know not just how much you are saving but what you might be losing in the process. A saving of £10 isn't really worth it for the loss of flexibility and refund rights.

And worth noting if you use the filters and ask it to only show walk up tickets, you will get split ticketing and retain your refund rights.
