Seen a fair few photos lately on Flickr where Keighley have had to loan York some Northern Counties Olympians to cover vehicle shortages, mainly the S--VNM Volvo ones but also H142/5GGS. All of which were new to BTS/London Sovereign many years ago.

The surprising thing they seem to be frequently appearing on the main coastliner service to Leeds, a far cry from the high spec Wright Eclipse double deckers. Great from an enthusiasts point of view but a few years ago this would have never happened and seems like a drastic drop in standards. Surely they could have been something else more suited that could have been lent to them to cover?

No. These Olympians were used on the 844 (runs via Colton, and via Bishopthorpe) which is a York depot route.

Coastliner 843 etc always worked by gemini deckers.
