For those not familiar with the history, the old electrification to Ashton Moss Junction was from Guide Bridge, via an east to north curve that has since been lifted. The EM1 1500V DC electric locomotives used to work freights to/from exchange sidings at Ashton Moss.

I should think Heaton Norris to Ashton Moss and Denton to Guide Bridge might be a possible infill electrification scheme at some point in the future.
The only time I saw any "Tommies" at Ashton Moss was on 08/06/1962 when 26016 and 26031 were present.

I believe its to do with Northerns planned refurbishment of Neville Hill depot which they have inherited from EMR.
I think temp stabling sidings near Crossleys scrapyard at Shipley and elseware are proposed.

Would that be around the back of Platform 4? That's the only conceivable place I can think of, unless the strip of land between the Leeds & Liverpool Canal, the main Airedale line and the route via Baildon is used.

No idea where Crossleys is, but this is the first I've heard of Ulleskelf being used for stabling too.

Crossleys is a scrapyard. Shown here on Tracksy.

Not so long ago the site North of the bridge just above Keighley Station went up for sale, the building has since been demolished and I'll believe it is slowly being turned into a variety of small units for let.

Anyway isn't Hill House to become a depot once again after TRU through Huddersfield is completed ?

A light maintenance depot at Hillhouse (one word) has been suggested for years, even prior to TRU. IIRC it was part of the SRA-led DMU proposal that was axed in the 2000s.

That site is to be used for a temporary station during the Huddersfield station works, so any depot can't happen until that work is completed and the site freed up again. The platform works, specifically the new down slow and bay platforms, will remove occupy the sidings currently used to stable Northern units- so somewhere needs to be found for that purpose.

AIUI Hillhouse Sidings will become the replacement for the current Huddersfield Station Sidings.

It'll become an unofficial paint shop if they're not careful with security.

Shipley, even if it's just for Northern, seems to have passed me by, missed it somehow!

....and some sort of transport will have to be laid-on for drivers between Hillhouse Sidings and Huddersfield station, given the distance involved.
i.e. a taxi ;)

A few tweets down from the top of the TRU Twitter feed (not sure how to do a direct link) there's a tweet from 7 May about track relaying between Manchester and Stalybridge, with two photos. Can anyone identify the location?

I counted 58 (probably more) masts on the south side from the end of current wires near Victoria to just west of Ashton under Lyne.
All sorts of structures, from single track masts to twin-track to gantries, in various states of fit-out.
Quite a few were sporting registration kit and tensioning gear.
When the masts run out at Ashton, piles continue over much of the rest of the route to within a quarter mile or so of Stalybridge Jn (alongside the Guide Bridge line).
The Guide Bridge route itself also has a good number of piles, perhaps 20 on the north side of the layout.
Nothing yet at Stalybridge, but they are making excellent progress.

Looks like the Phillips Park area; as I recall there's a few underbridges which carry one track per deck there.

Have they removed the new foot bridge that replaced the old road bridge as it does not show on your pictures.
The photos look to be taken from that new footbridge.
Looking on google maps, the footbridge looks new, wonder when NR will be doing the tunnels and bridges after ashton station.

Littlemoss Rd
AFAIK only the tunnel and Stamford St East need to be done.

Probably lower the track in the tunnel, wonder when they'll shut off Stamford St or do what they did with Oldham Rd and use one way traffic on either side with diversions in place, unless an overnight job when the traffic is quiet.

Bit of a side question - Will TRU ‘option F’ mean that all of the freight trains that currently run via the Calder Valley be able to run via Diggle instead?

Moving freight away from the Calder Valley line could mean that there could be more and faster trains between Bradford and Manchester without disruptive improvement work on the Calder Valley line.

I assume that a good proportion of them will, yes.
Of course that assumes there's space to run them during the entire week in the WTT.

Crossed Berry Brow level crossing earlier today heading from Droylsden to Failsworth. I spotted 4 masts to my right between the crossing and the viaduct (known locally as the Ten Arches). Didn't get chance to see if anything was erected on the viaduct.

Did they have any booms on them?
No, just the uprights.
I've just been on the Richmond Street Bridge not far from IKEA and looking East there is structure whereas looking West where the Junction splits towards Denton, there isn't any sign of masts.

Wouldn't surprised me if the junction gets done last; it certainly looks quite complex!

Also, did you get the structure number of the single upright on the UA obscured by bushes in the second picture? I couldn't make out if it was MVL/09/14 or MVL/09/16.
