Travelling on from Waterloo to London Bridge or Charing Cross

For years, when travelling from Virginia Water to Waterloo, I’ve taken advantage of the London Terminals destination on the ticket (SWR) and continued my journey by walking to Waterloo East and thence travelling on to either London Bridge or Charing Cross. The ticket was always given back to me at the barrier for this purpose. On two occasions now the barrier has kept my ticket making this option no longer possible. The ticket still says London Terminals rather than specifically Waterloo.

What’s going on? Has there been a change to this rather useful ‘perk.’

SWR gatelines at Waterloo do seem to be swallowing up tickets more than they used to. Probably been some reprogramming for certain ticket destinations/types.
