That's because it's a different language...Not just spelling it is a different pronunciation as well
I thought there was a thread on this already, but I can't find it, so here's a new one. Post places you think you ought to know how to pronounce (but don't), and hopefully some others can set you straight.
I'll start with Burscough. Is it "Berss-kuh" or "Berss-ko"? I have no idea.
