There's a thread discussing Southern's temporary renaming of Brighton to "Frighton" to mark Hallowe'en.

Leaving that thread for discussion of the rights and wrongs of such things, here's a trivia thread just for fun- which stations could be given a spooky rebranding, and which ones don't even need renaming?

A few to start off with:
Batley
Todmorden (not spooky in English, but is for our German-speakers)
Headbolt Lane is a new entry, of course!

Extra points to your Hogwarts House for particularly forced or cringe-worthy puns!

Similarly Sudbury in Suffolk would be the station for Borley Rectory, once known as the "most haunted house in England"...

However the rectory itself burned down in the 1930s and the site is now used for bungalows. Residents of the hamlet understandably get a bit annoyed by tourists turning up at Hallowe'en.

A few others:
Werewolverton (or indeed Werewolverhampton)
 Gargrave
Elephantom & Castle

The Looe Valley line is supposedly haunted, especially between Causeland and St Keyne, with Causeland being one of the most haunted stations in the country. Apparently the phone receives one of the the highest number of calls in Cornwall, but there is never anybody on the end of the line.

A paranormal investigation was carried out some time ago at Causeland station, which makes some interesting/entertaining reading:

Elliot Luxstowe's information was surprisingly specific, given the age and nature of the story. Commuters, tourists and locals have reported a few 'strange events' while waiting at Causeland Station, or while passing in cars, or the train itself.

Link includes commentary from a paranormal investigation of Causeland station in Cornwall.

Dunkeld & Birnam is the home of Birnam Wood, the forest that walked in Shakespeare's Scottish play.

Blackheath for the plague pits.

Exeter St Thomas is allegedly haunted by a woman in heels.

Bristol Temple Meads is also meant to be haunted by a female looking out of one of the windows above the main gateline.

A lost, late-night traveller might get spooked when he stumbles across the Hall i'th' Wood.
Especially if the sole occupant is practicing Bach's Toccata and Fugue (= 'that Dracula tune') on the organ at the time.

BTW, with a Senior R/card it costs £8.30 for a single from Hag Fold to Old cRoan (Route: NOT PENDLE HILL)

Manchester Victoria is situated near to the Cathedral and the Hanging Ditch Bridge so you could rename it Hanging Bridge. I think part of the station was built on a cemetery so it may well be haunted.

What about Arley, Severn Valley? The station garden looked rather spooky last Sunday. :D:D:D:D

Road Access to Derby Etches Park depot is via Deadman's Lane, named after the nearby plague pit. Trufax.
