TVMs at Sheffield not offering SuperOffPeak tickets from Boundary Zone 6. Why?

In recent weeks the TVMs at Sheffield have started to sell tickets from, seemingly, any station (previously only random a selection was available) as well as Boundary Zone tickets and also tickets for future dates from both Sheffield and elsewhere. This is a great improvement.

Unfortunately, not all fares are included - I looked to book a ticket from Boundary Zone 6 to Chelmsford for Saturday but was only offered the OffPeak Day Return at £7.35 rather than the SuperOffPeak Day Return at £6.00. Does anyone know why the SuperOffPeak would not be included ? As far as I am aware it is a permanent fare rather than a promotional one.

Non-standard ticket types need to all be added manually to the TVM.

Ah, right. Seems strange that a permanent walk up ticket is considered non-standard. Presumably only Anytime & Off Peak are standard types then ?

There is no common ticket code for super off peak day returns, hence the issue.

It may be a datafeed issue. A complaint to EMT is not going to do any harm.

I see no reason why it should not be available.

Is this happening with TVMs at all EMT stations? The one at my local station on the Robin Hood Line in Notts was certainly only selling tickets from a few selected stations when I last looked about a month ago.
I noticed when I was at Church Stretton in Shropshire last week that the Arrriva Trains Wales TVM there sold tickets from any station and tickets for travelling the next day. I had a little play around with it and did notice that with tickets for the following day it was only offering Anytime tickets and not the cheaper off peak tickets.

Good idea. I will check whether it offers the equivalent fare from Liverpool St, as that is a less of a niche product (although if I actually wanted to buy that, I would just do so online).

I can't answer your question, but have only noticed the change at Sheffield within the last month. You can also enter a forward date at least for the rest of the calendar month, not just the next day.

TVMs cannot be relied upon to offer the cheapest walk up ticket at times. It's not just EMT's TVMs that don't offer certain Super Off Peak fares. This is a known issue and caution should be excised by people who use them.

Buying a ticket at Lincoln on Monday the elderly gentleman in front of me was defeated by the TVM and left. I went to buy a single to Newark, inputted the station and it then asked me for my destination! Basically I had filled in the starting station so voided the journey and started again. So yes you could buy a ticket for a journey from another station at Lincoln, which is EMT, on Monday of this week.....
