Valenta, what has happened to your lorry?! Practically the whole thing is flashing up red in the damage box, did you drive into a wall or something?

I'm not the most careful driver! Just before I had offloaded some goods and completely missed the exit and crashed into the railings!

Easiest way to get a screenshot is to press F10, where they are then stored in the 'screenshot' subfolder. I take it you accumulated the high earnings from the money cheat? So far, I have resisted that temptation. I just need £10,000 more and I can buy an A Class! :)

Thanks for the information about the screenshots!
See you noticed my fraudulent activities on the game, unfortunately I don't have the patience to wait for an A class lorry!

It does take quite a while to save up.

I just saw the trailer and read the blog for Euro Truck Simulator 2. It looks amazing, but unfortunately, my computer would never be able to handle the game. :(

Some new features included extra dark roads at night, increased volumes of traffic and satellite navigation. Quite a game in the making.

Two more shots from me.

Lovely shots, always impressed by the colours on this game.
As for Euro Truck simulator 2, I don't think my computer could handle it either. :(

Can i be picky and say that in pic one all the dials on the dash are in the wrong place?
And whats going on with that container in pic 2? If you got a tug by VOSA you'd be overloaded on the trailer, thats if it actually got out the yard as theres no weight over the drive axle, that box should be sat over the drive axle for traction which in turn would put the trailer wheels under the back of the box.

Oh for the rapidly falling out of favour tag axle. Traction problems? Lift the rear axle and let the drive axle take all the weight, instant traction!

You know, you have a point. The trailer does look in a slightly odd position, but I believe there is a separate connection attaching the trailer to the cab out of shot.

As for the dials, I wouldn't know. I have never driven a HGV (not a real one at least). :(

I wanted to ask you something, actually. Do HGV drivers who live out on the road get a meal allowance to pay for food as covered by the employer, or does it come out of your own pocket?

Depends on the company on the most part really... When I was doing trunk runs in the vehicle displayed earlier, we got nowt for food / drink etc. But were well paid... (Well, I was, paid hourly, the joys of being stuck in traffic or waiting for a pickup when you're paid hourly is amazing!)

However when I was driving green (Not Eddie Stobart!) vehicles, all me food etc was thrown in, and any extra we got something like 75% discount at SSP outlets...

My computer is not very powerful, it really struggles to play Railworks. But other than the odd "jump" UKTS works fine.

What computer specs do you have guys ?
I need to know if UKTS will work properly on my computer :)

I can run UKTS on an ATI Mobility Radeon 4200 graphics card despite the fact that the game recommends ATI 9800. On the motorway, I can have the graphics tuned to high settings.

When I go into the city, I do have to drop the settings a little and it does have a tendency to slow down, but about 90% of the time the city works fine on low settings.

My processor also has 2.0Ghz (2.2 recommended).

Apart from the occasional stutter in the city, the game works very well. I would strongly recommend it! :)

Yeah i get a meal allowance in my wages everyday......... £2!

Why have you got an M.A.N 4x2? The Scania was a 4x2, 6x2 is better, can run at heavier weights.

£2! That's ridiculous! £2 to last a day, surely not.

I just took the MAN for a spin on the motorway. It's an A Class lorry, the Scania was a C Class. The difference is unbelievable. The speed at which the truck can go is ridiculous (as you can probably gather, the 60mph motorway limit applied in real life is not applicable here ).

You do get speed cameras though.

The MAN is much more powerful, the handling is also a major improvement. But not cheap, unfortunately.

No i kid you not.... £2 a day, £10 a week!

Heres my wage structure ( i don't care who knows )

My basic rate of weekly pay will be £360 (equating to an average 48hour working week).
In addition, the following details of supplementary payments will, where applicable, operate.
Distances travelled after first 2000 kms - 8p per km and after 3000kms - 12p per km.
2x20ft containers on 1x40ft skelly trailer - £20.00 per occasion.
Multi-deliveries or collections - £10.00 per delivery/collection after 1st delivery/collection has been completed.
Tip and reload, same container, same day - £10,00 lump sum payment.
Next day reload, same container - £25.00 lump sum payment.
Saturday/Sunday working - £7.50 per hour.

In addition i get £20.98 for a night out/away in the cab and the already mentioned £2 per day meal allowance.

Fuel bonus,

Average MPG, Average weekly bonus, Total sum being paid after 3 completed months assessed each quarter

8.01 to 8.25, £0.00, £0.00
8.26 to 8.50, £10.00, £130
8.51 to 8.70, £15.00, £195
8.71 to 8.80, £25.00, £325
8.81 to 8.90, £30.00, £390
8.91 to 9.00, £45.00, £585
9.01 to 9.10, £50.00, £650
9.11 to 9.20, £55.00, £715
9.21 to 9.30, £60.00, £780
9.31 to 9.40, £65.00, £845
9.41 to 9.50, £70.00, £910
9.50 & Over, £75.00, £975

in addition to this at the end of each quarter are average weekly mileage will be assesed. If the resultant figure is in excess of 2500kms (1553 miles) per average week, then no correction to the calculated lump sum will be necesary. If however, your average, over the relavant 13 week period (quarter), falls below 2500 kms per week, then a percentage discount to the relevant MPG band will be applied as follows:-

Less than 2250 kms per week - 30%
Less than 2300 kms per week - 25%
Less than 2350 kms per week - 20%
Less than 2400 kms per week - 15%
Less than 2450 kms per week - 10%
Less than 2500 kms per week - 5%

After tax i usually take home each week anywhere between £410-£440

How ever, read all the above and you will spot a big flaw (and one i will be suffering from for the next 2 weeks) and thats when drivers take holiday they only get the basic money (£360) which after it has been taxed, means most drivers (with families and bills and mortgages etc) simply can't afford to take holidays.

And lastly my hours of work ( from my contract of employment)

The standard working week remains at 40 hours, spread over 5 x 8 hours Monday to Friday.
However, you will be required to work such hours as are needed to fulfil your duties and responsibilities, or other work, directed by a director or his mominated deputy; also to maximise available driving hours. This will include on occasion weekend work, if suitable driving hours are available, and we have a reasonable requirement for your services.

In short you will be required to fully utilise available hours each day and shall do so as directed by company management.

Make of that what you will.

My last wage structure was a lot easyer...

Agency so no direct holidays (12.08% AHP), paid hourly, paid breaks, don't take too long at it or you get a bollocking, and don't care how much fuel you used.

Non-agency drivers had a bonus scheme about uniforms, clean vehicles etc that worked out at an extra £1,000/year, but I wasn't in that. There was nothing for fuel economy, they just didn't care that with a 109PS unit I was still burning £120+ worth of Diesel/day with 350 - 450mi

Having done some research, it appears that the average truck driver salary is £24,000 a year. The average salary in the UK is about £25,000 a year.

GearJammer, you will have a PM.

That may be true, but what is the average working class salary?

Since that average includes the South East, I seriously dowbt anyone round my area would say that is the average.

So you got an A Class without cheating!
More excellent shots, and your driving looks somewhat "steadier" than mine!

Yeah, it was fully worth the savings! Next stop, make enough money to buy a garage......I'm already £35,000 on the way thanks to the sheer power of the new lorry! :D

When I first started playing, my driving was terrible. I couldn't go five metres without smashing into something. Though I have got much, much better since then and just about mastered overtaking on the smaller country roads. I hate driving into places like Aberdeen, it seems to go on forever.

It does in real life too...

Took up a 3.5 tonne limited to 70 and it took all my hours for a day to get there and I ended up having to Overnight in Dundee... On the expenses of the company :D

(This was to drop 1 pallet off! Well, 1 and a half...)

Used to be, gave it up to go back to uni, did long distance routes on a refrigerated vehicle.

But the distro for the whole of the company I worked for only had two 18 tonners, 7 7.5 tonners and the rest was 3.5 tonners.

Before that I drove green stuff for the queen...
