£2! That's ridiculous! £2 to last a day, surely not.
I just took the MAN for a spin on the motorway. It's an A Class lorry, the Scania was a C Class. The difference is unbelievable. The speed at which the truck can go is ridiculous (as you can probably gather, the 60mph motorway limit applied in real life is not applicable here

).
You do get speed cameras though.
The MAN is much more powerful, the handling is also a major improvement. But not cheap, unfortunately.
No i kid you not.... £2 a day, £10 a week!
Heres my wage structure ( i don't care who knows )
My basic rate of weekly pay will be £360 (equating to an average 48hour working week).
In addition, the following details of supplementary payments will, where applicable, operate.
Distances travelled after first 2000 kms - 8p per km and after 3000kms - 12p per km.
2x20ft containers on 1x40ft skelly trailer - £20.00 per occasion.
Multi-deliveries or collections - £10.00 per delivery/collection after 1st delivery/collection has been completed.
Tip and reload, same container, same day - £10,00 lump sum payment.
Next day reload, same container - £25.00 lump sum payment.
Saturday/Sunday working - £7.50 per hour.
In addition i get £20.98 for a night out/away in the cab and the already mentioned £2 per day meal allowance.
Fuel bonus,

8.01 to 8.25, £0.00, £0.00
8.26 to 8.50, £10.00, £130
8.51 to 8.70, £15.00, £195

in addition to this at the end of each quarter are average weekly mileage will be assesed. If the resultant figure is in excess of 2500kms (1553 miles) per average week, then no correction to the calculated lump sum will be necesary. If however, your average, over the relavant 13 week period (quarter), falls below 2500 kms per week, then a percentage discount to the relevant MPG band will be applied as follows:-
Less than 2250 kms per week - 30%
Less than 2300 kms per week - 25%
Less than 2350 kms per week - 20%
Less than 2400 kms per week - 15%
Less than 2450 kms per week - 10%
Less than 2500 kms per week - 5%
After tax i usually take home each week anywhere between £410-£440
How ever, read all the above and you will spot a big flaw (and one i will be suffering from for the next 2 weeks) and thats when drivers take holiday they only get the basic money (£360) which after it has been taxed, means most drivers (with families and bills and mortgages etc) simply can't afford to take holidays.
And lastly my hours of work ( from my contract of employment)
The standard working week remains at 40 hours, spread over 5 x 8 hours Monday to Friday.
However, you will be required to work such hours as are needed to fulfil your duties and responsibilities, or other work, directed by a director or his mominated deputy; also to maximise available driving hours. This will include on occasion weekend work, if suitable driving hours are available, and we have a reasonable requirement for your services.
In short you will be required to fully utilise available hours each day and shall do so as directed by company management.
Make of that what you will.
