It seems most people use the exit only barriers so the main two gate lines are rather underused.

Makes sense for buses and QE, The University campus will depend on where on the campus you want to be.

Today my sister came to visit me for the weekend. As she is a Birmingham University alumna, I suggested that I meet her off the train at University so that she could see the new station. I had been there previously so I showed her around. One thing I noticed this time was that there were no directions given for the QE Hospital. Then my sister pointed out that the direction signs were all on notices printed out and stock on walls etc as an obvious afterthought. There were signs for the Medical School with an H sign but this is not the same as the Hospital.

One observation on peculiar ticket barrier manning hours...
Went into New Street around half 6 on a Saturday, Uni station barriers were open. Coming back from Birmingham around half 10 - they were closed and manned?
Not something I expected to see.

On Wednesday early evening, all 3 gatelines were shut (ie: tickets being checked). Not something I've ever seen before at the station!
