Deeside Halt on the Llangollen Railway is also disused - I don't think it was ever a halt in GWR/BR days, it was built as a terminus as once the railway was extended through the tunnel they had to get trains running asap to generate income, rather than waiting for the whole route to the next station at Glyndyfrdwy to be completed. Since Glyn opened in the early 90's I never knew anyone to get on or off at Deeside, and I believe it's now formally closed if not even demolished.

Dixter Halt on the Kent and East Sussex Railway was opened between Bodiam and Northiam in the 1980s for special services from Bodiam. It lasted for a few years but was demolished when the line was reopened for regular passenger services.

Dixter Halt was removed as part of the agreement with the local farmer for access for the construction works for the extension to Bodiam. I was part of the demolition party. It hadn't been used at that stage for 10 years and was completely overgrown.

When I was a working member on the Llangollen Railway around the period 2007- 2010 there were several trains that stopped at Deeside Halt to detrain ramblers.
There was a halt called Pentrefelin adjacent to the approach to the sidings. It was a temporary terminus whilst the bridge over the River Dee was being rebuilt.

Yes platform removed earlier this year and shelter relocated to Glyndyfrdwy. Photographic evidence people did get on and off there. There is a footpath down from near a layby on the A5 near the toll house kiosk cafe.

Not sure whether this counts as a preserved railway or not, but Beach station on the North Bay Railway in Scarborough is disused. Nevertheless trains stop there to cross when the 20 min peak service is running and passengers have to be warned not to alight.

Herston Halt on Swange Line is request only but struggle to see anyone genuinely using it given its only 200 yards or so from the main termi

I used Herston when I was there in 2017, just so I could say I'd used all stations on the line.

There was certainly a 'Bluebell Halt' in the early days (1960-1961?) of the preserved railway, located about 100 yards short of Horsted Keynes station. Think there was also a temporary halt at 'Holywell (Waterworks)' operational in 1962 only and a couple of others, 'Freshfield Halt' (opened 1960, closed 1988?) and 'Ketches Farm Halt' (1989-1990) which was only ever normally used for farm open days.

Yes, precisely that.

Horsted Keynes was still connected to the Brighton Main Line via Copyhold Junction / Haywards Heath.

Matlock Riverside has been in use recently while PR work out a new system to run into the Mainline station.

Further to this, I understand it continued to be used annually for Santa Specials even after Peak Rail started using Matlock platform 2.

I don't think many people used Sampford Courtenay when the Dartmoor railway ran heritage services. Think I only ever went on the thumper there once. Middle of nowhere.

I'm pretty sure there's some sort of platform at the end of the lavender line too, not sure if it's a station or if anyone uses it

Sampford Courtenay did have a small parking area in front. Would be useful for people from the local rural hinterland to park up for the odd trip. Perhaps it should be made a request stop?

Worth Halt? Believe you can buy a £5 single ticket there from Isfield station (and then walk the mile or so back), so presumably it must be operational.

During the recent WHR mini gala, (with Russell and Palmerston) to honour the July 1922 timetable trains stopped at the former Bet(t)ws Garmon station, alongside the remains of the old station building.

Sampford Courtenay did have a small parking area in front. Would be useful for people from the local rural hinterland to park up for the odd trip. Perhaps it should be made a request stop?

Sampford Courtney has an active station adoption group. It’s a shame nothing stops there.

With the current frequency of service and infrastructure configuration there doesn’t appear to be room in the timetable for any additional stops between Okehampton and Crediton, other than by cutting into the ten minute turnaround time at Okehampton which wouldn’t be ideal for service recovery.

Is Market Bosworth on the Battlefield Line operational?

I know there are a couple of disused stations on the East Lancs railway. One still has a platform but I think two are long gone.

On the East Lancs Railway the remains of Stubbins station, situated between Ramsbottom and Irwell Vale can clearly be seen. Less remains of Ewood Bridge & Edenfield, situated between Irwell Vale and Ramsbottom, but there are clues to its location still visible. I believe there was also a station at Broadfield between Bury and Heywood, but not sure anything remains of this.

Colesloggett Halt on the Bodmin & Wenford Railway. I believe that nothing now stops there since they lost their 'big' engine.

Not sure about the current status of Fencote or Rowden Mill, but I think they may qualify as preserved closed stations, even though the railway line is not preserved as such.

Witton-le-Wear and Bishop Auckland West on the Weardale Railway haven't been used for a long time. I'm not sure if these count though, as both were new stations built for the heritage railway rather than 'preserved' stations.
