I know how to upgrade the return part of a paper ticket to a different route but can this be done with e-tickets as I assume is can but it will be at an SWR station which always presents more issues!

It should be the same as any other type of ticket - a paper excess would be issued at the booking office.

I say should, unfortunately many booking office staff do not know how to do their job correctly.

Thanks :) I thought that but just wanted to check. To be fair, many booking offices can't do paper ticket changes :)
