Just been trawling through some videos from my favourite band 'Queen' and this one recorded on the Nene Valley Railway got to me thinking what other recording artists have used UK rail locations for video shoots:

Queen, trains and Debbie Leng. What more could a bloke want?

So.... as to other music videos filmed on the UK (public and private) railway network....

Over to the forum.....

Bronski Beat - Small Town Boy, and an exceptionally rare DEMU (although the song is far more important musically and culturally - a groundbreaking depiction of life as a young gay man in 1980's Britain).

Great find there, jamesontheroad. :D

Great piece of 1980's electronica. And a video that perfectly accompanies the lyrics in telling a story.

I would like Queen but the surviving members are arrogant tw^ts.

Rock n Roll Train by the greatest people in history (AC/DC) features tonnes of cab view juice rail film.

Classic!!!!

Joss Ackland and Gareth Hunt hamming it up big time. And WTF is the lyrical significance of a tethered zebra and a couple on random cows on the Bluebell? :D
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
Please, indulge me.

Mention songs by all means, but please posts links to the videos featuring identifiable UK trains/rail locations.

:D

On phone so I can't, but a quick YT search should bring it up - the official version only will show it.

Oooh, that's a bit unfair. John Deacon has kept a dignified silence since the death of Freddie Mercury. And Brian and Roger have been instrumental in ensuring Freddie's legacy is continually and respectfully kept in the the public's consciousness.

Whatever Brian and Roger do, be it the We Will Rock You musical, touring as Queen+Paul Rogers, overseeing documentaries and back catalogue re-issues, it's all done with the blessing of the Freddie Mercury estate. Royalties from these various projects continue to feed into The Mercury Phoenix Trust.

Don't quite see how that can be regarded as arrogant.

Did you watch the recent Beeb 2 doc on them? May and Taylor were rude, offensive and big headed. As for Deacon, what did he do? He never sang, and the bass tabs for Queen tracks are fairly easy...

I agree that Roger, in one instance, was rude. When it came to defending Queen's decision to play in Sun City, South Africa, during Apartheid. Something that I don't believe they should've done. Other examples of rudeness and big-headedness I'm struggling to see from that documentary. Perhaps you could enlighten me?

As for John Deacon's bass lines. What's so wrong with having a bass track that is easy to follow? If it works for a particular song then fine. Another One Bites The Dust (John Deacon) is a pretty easy bass tab to learn, yet it was Queen's biggest selling hit in the USA.

As for not singing. What a silly argument. How many rock bands can you name that have four vocalists? For the record he did sing, providing backing vocals on numerous album tracks, but he didn't feel the need to compete with the three other vocalists in the band. He was the quiet man after all - and for that he earns my respect. JD was quite happy to put his lyrics in the mouths of others.

Locations and stock? Over to the panel.....;)

EDIT: After the studying the video closely (looking at the locations - honest!) it would appear that this video was recorded on the Watercress Line in Hampshire.
