I wont name them, but it does appear that one forum member has though.... :P (incidentally, if youre less than 10mins away from Euston and leave instantly, popping on to Twitter whilst youre heading there, you could get 3 months FC travel!)

I came away with an 11 car Pendolino and a 15-year franchise...

I like Virgin Trains as a company (people have probably noticed this already ;)). Do I like Branson? Erm... I won't say!

Here are some promises from over a decade ago:

NO FARE INCRASES! (Broken - time and again :|)

GREAT ONBOARD FACILITIES! (Broken :|)

FREE TAXIS FOR FC PASSENGERS! (Broken :|)

GREAT NEW TRAINS! (Partly broken :|)

GREAT NEW TIMETABLES! (Not for people on the Trent Valley, Rugby and Milton Keynes, it isn't - and during the Off-Peak you are just carting around fresh air!)

I could go on...

Yes.* :)

*But maybe you had to show a London to Manchester FOR to get one!

(OK, you didn't really)

Sonic2009, welcome to the Virgin world of salmon tarts that make you puke, sandwich combinations from the Far East, and First Class lounges that have rats running around (aka Euston)! :D

EDIT: Oh, and Voyagers - I forgot to mention that one!

Now, now, there's no need for that. ;)

I'm not bothered as I'm not doing much travelling at the moment (don't have the time), but I would have been fuming if I was in the London area!

Given that I work on Euston Road (and I've been to the event twice today ) I'm pretty gutted I missed this!

Oh OK - you're more than justified then. Next time keep an eye on Twitter! ;) They always mention things like this. :)

With a man like Souter at the top it's no wonder Stagecoach has a reputation for being anti-passenger.

I have to say I like Virgin. They treat their people well and the service is run with the aim of improvement, rather than the status quo. There are a few issues with their procedures, but that's as much as I can say

Head to Head against East Coast Scotland to London Virgin would win hands down in my view thanks to East Coasts "shoot yourself in the foot" revised catering policy.

Like a previous contributor I am a "freeloader" going for railcard reduced Advanced First Class Fares - ANY free scran and ale greatfully accepted.

However if I were paying ANYTHING over £100 for a journey in First Class I would consider the service more Tesco than Waitrose.

My observation regarding the company is somewhat akin to that of its sister airline - started well but......

going down the pan fast
