Savers aren't valid Tom?
They are!! How on earth did you do the trip otherwise...

It wasn't a Y-P, he was on a child ticket WSX Fan, under "most" circumstances the RPI would have been correct (as the majority of (non railcard) adult/ child svr's are not valid peak time out of Euston) , but if you read the previous detailed posts explaining the possible "mis-print" regarding the ticket validities, it shows Mark has a case as according to that document, his ticket was valid. But unless you read the document (which the RPI, Colin Taylor didn't do) it would give the impression of not being valid. So it is not really as cut and dried as one may think on the surface - and Virgin may well have a case?
Savers arnt vaild on peak trains though.
Absolutely, you can't even leave the house and walk to the shop these days.Mind, that sounds typical of the way things go in this day and age. Something is right one minute and isn't the next.

Go to court, you will win IMO (IANAL).This evening i got a letter from them saying they have popped the fare up to £36.25 because i haven't payed or anything. Well after sending a letter about 4 days after i had the fine sent recorded delivery and also they had receved the letter, they will be getting a lovely phone call from me during my brake time. I can very well see this going to court at this rate.
He became eligible for a Y-P today, but he was (just!) under 16 on the day he travelled.Fight the power!
Surely if a Saver fare is advertised as valid on any Virgin Trains service when holding a Y-P, and if it is advertised as a valid fare on the 1651, then they are surely in the wrong?
It's typical of desperate ticket inspectorsMind, that sounds typical of the way things go in this day and age. Something is right one minute and isn't the next.
It's valid on some savers, but not others. You should be fine with a Y-P though.I personally want to get the 87 in on the 1651 off Euston myself sometime, however if they're going to be kicking up a similar fuss to this if I board with a Saver, then it's not worth it!
rotest: Savers valid from Felixstowe to Rugby!
rotest:
The restrictions on Savers are as quoted in the NFM. Such a blanket restriction as "Savers arnt vaild on peak trains" can never be applied, as the system does not work like that.Savers arnt vaild on peak trains though.
Depends how you define "desperate gripper". You accused me and a guard of being "deperate" when disposing of a ticketless drunkIt's typical of desperate ticket inspectors![]()
Virgin have no case. Ticket validities for Felixstowe to Rugby tickets are NOT set by Virgin, Virgin MUST honour the validity of the ticket. If they do not they are in breach of the NCoC, which is this case here.Virgin may well have a case?
Nope, that's just being sensible. But yeah I did jokingly ask if you were "desperate" - which I can't imagine you beingDepends how you define "desperate gripper". You accused me and a guard of being "deperate" when disposing of a ticketless drunk![]()

LMAO...!
I would define a "Desperate gripper" as a gripper that doesnt let anything slide

Guess it just pays to check before you travel! I did consider a Saver on this train months ago, but Virgin's booking service made it fairly clear that the ticket wasn't valid on the 1651.
Did the Joyrider get chinged?
On the journey I was told by Colin Taylor that my ticket was not valid and given another excess of £21.25 ticket (copy attached). I explained that this is the ticket it came up on your website but Mr Taylor didnt take my statement as true. I have since re-checked your website and found that the Saver Return ticket is available on the 16:51 to Rugby and starting at Felixstowe at 13:56 as planned. I then found on the National Rail website that fares manual with all the tickets in and found travel from Kings Cross, London Paddington or St Pancras no mention of Euston so 9A is disregarded. This is the opposite to what Mr Taylor said when he said that because I was on a Virgin train I take the Virgin conditions and that all Saver tickets are not valid on Virgin trains between the times given out of Euston. This goes against the website I got the times off where it has restrictions with Savers on the 14:27 from Rugby to Felixstowe but not on any shown on the times I seen between Felixstowe and Rugby direction.
You COULD have used ANY saver on this with your Y-P railcard!Guess it just pays to check before you travel! I did consider a Saver on this train months ago, but Virgin's booking service made it fairly clear that the ticket wasn't valid on the 1651.

Purchase of a Saver Return, with a Young Persons Railcard, from Birmingham New Street to London Terminals. Travel would probably be on the 1100 Birmingham New Street to London Euston service, returning on the 1651 London Euston to Birmingham New Street service.
Let me get something straight here. I've not checked this, but the following is/was a statement of intent for a proposed bash to include the 87 run:
Purchase of a Saver Return, with a Young Persons Railcard, from Birmingham New Street to London Terminals. Travel would probably be on the 1100 Birmingham New Street to London Euston service, returning on the 1651 London Euston to Birmingham New Street service.
However, fancy a Penalty Fare I do not. Please, someone confirm the above statement as a valid move.
I assume you'll be doing a few "hellfire bashes" round the Sutton loop on a 319 then?Got the weekend off though, so a full-on, mental thrash around London will suffice!
