Take a look at this article which sets the record straight
https://www.nottinghampost.com/news/local-news/investigation-launched-after-bus-fire-10096282

A slightly better article, states the bus hadn't caught fire but the driver thought it had. I'd say it was a good move on the drivers behalf. Better to be safe than sorry!

Small engine bay on 803, seems to be similar, if not less damage than 804 was (which was repaired)

The way it reads, Nottingham Post have someone following every Trentbarton bus, just in case.
Well they have needed the assistance of the fire service twice in 24 hours, with each incident causing disruption to the road network at rush hour. At least neither were as bad as the fire on the skyline Nottingham bus in shepshed a few weeks ago.

Looks very smart even on a 17 year old bus.
It definitely shows how nice and modern the Eclipse can still be even at that age, but surely if they wanted to show to their potential customers that they can do better than Arriva, they'd use something a lot newer? When Yourbus took them on with the Y1 they almost immediately ordered brand new Versas for the H1

Ah but Your bus had the quality Citaro.

How does it look on the other side? I only ask because of the way the X is included in the livery.
The colour partition still goes through the X, but with the rest of the wording being on the brown half, if that makes sense

For those who complain about the age of the buses, remember that in the days of high floor, vehicles stayed in service for often nearly 30 years. When many high floor buses were forced into an early retirement, operators got it in their heads that all vehicles should be replaced after 10-15 years and it seems like they are now realising again that there's no reason to replace perfectly sound vehicles just because of their reg. B7s are solid. They're built to last, so why would they be withdrawn?

The refurbished Volvos are in fact older than anything Arriva use on their route.
Yes, just modern day Wellegande - slap on some paint and hope that will do. I guess the're still upset at Arriva having to take over all 4 workins because Wellade were always deficient

Theres that and forced by external factors such as emission zones being put in some cities to the point operators had no choice but to replace some or all of the buses usually being newer replacements although not always.

Wonder when redarrows will be shown off like the x38 today or even flixbus promotions in derby/notts as the coaches should be here soon if not next few months just before summer as I remember they said there comming sometime in spring.

Is there a date when the new x38 buses start

Plenty of life left in the Volvos.

Bit random, but does anybody know why newer Wellglade buses have registration plate starting with YX and YY ... etc, whilst older ones start with FJ (such as the B7's). The FJ corresponds to the Notts DVLA office. This can also be seen with Arriva Derby's Geminis which start with FJ.

If you were to buy a brand-new car and you live in Derby/Notts, the registration plate would start with FA, FB, FC, FD, FE, FF, FG, FH, FJ, FK, FL, FM, FN, or FP.

Most new buses are now registered by the manufacturer. So ADLs are usually Sx (if built at Falkirk) or Yx (if Scarborough). It is still possible to register locally but very difficult.

They've done a lot more than paint these buses. A 17 year old Wellglade vehicle is typically a much more pleasant than an Arriva less than half the age because they have actually been properly cleaned (and often even refurbished) within the past few years.

I remember getting the Arriva 127 from Leicester to Loughborough after my last journey on 906 last year. It was my first time on any Wright Pulsar and not to exaggerate but I was really surprised at how bad of a bus it felt and not even the interior so much. It had the facelifted front so it would’ve been a couple of years newer than all but the Two batch of Wellglade Volvos but you really couldn’t tell

The Volvos have lasted well. They were an improvement on the scania, and most are still better to travel on than the newer e200s!

I find the arriva vdls ok, some are showing their age now though. Was behind a freshly painted on the other day with quite a bit of smoke coming out the back. I guess they will be used until too costly to fix, much like Trent with the Volvos.

Will we see some refurbished for the sixes in a few months.

Agree with the earlier post on cleanliness - Trent do clean their buses well, and that is an area that lets Arriva down.

On the x38 Vs xprss 38, it's still unviable for both operators. Worth noting that all Trent fares are higher than arrivas except the capped £3 single.

I still think xprss could be simplified to serve Stretton all day. Very odd having some evening trips covering a different route. They could potentially cut back the Burton end of the villager to hourly at the same time, which would enable them to save a bus on the villager and improve the timekeeping on that service. I thought this might have been done to coincide with the relaunch.
