Hello,

I normally travel from West Cowes (IOW) to Penmere by buying a ferry ticket and then a freedom of the south west rover 3 in 7. However with the Dawlish issues, would it be cheaper to buy an off peak return with the 25% discount? I have a railcard. Would you just buy the ticket from an office and they would apply the discount even if the office isn't managed by FGW?

I am looking at buying this ticket but with the 25% if possible. Unless there are better ways?

Many Thanks

The equivalent ticket from Southampton Central to Penmere, the price for which is also set by FGW, is showing on the on-line booking sites I looked (FGW, National Rail Enquiries and East Coast) at a price that seems to include the 25% discount. But the fare you are considering is still showing without the 25% discount. So hopefully someone else will be able to advise whether your chosen fare attracts the discount and, if so, how best to obtain discounted tickets.

FGW have just confirmed to me on Twitter that Southampton Central - Penmere should give a 25% discount & should be available from Southampton Central ticket office.

I don't know how to link a conversation, then I could show you.

Thanks for your swift replies. I can see now on FGW website that it is showing the Southampton to Penmere fare with the discount. Any ideas on the fare from West Cowes though as it is set by FGW and it passes through Dawlish so it should be eligible for discount too?
