This (rather grainy) photo depicts a short neutral section in a tramway section of Mk3a OLE. I can recognise most of the elements but there are three things that I find puzzling. I wonder if I can ask any of the experts herein to explain?
a) I take it this wire is top deal with any current dragged into the dead section (in conjunction with the arcing horns). Does it just go to earth or does it simply clamp onto the mast after wrapping around the top cantilever and let the mast earth the current, or does it do something more creative?
b) These items look like tiny insulators (too small to deal with 25Kv). Are they insulators or something else?
c) Is this part of the insulator or is the insulator just between the two clamps to the left?
Many thanks.
