Is this to add to their fleet, or is it to get rid of the 321s?Varamis have bought the 325s.
Varamis also have a maintenance facility at Wembley InterCity Depot so I suspect 5Z41 is unrelated to the 325sMaybe totally unrelated but 5Z41 is three Varamis rail 321's heading to Wembley. It is possible they are picking up the 325's to tow back north? Passing the Crewe webcam at about 09:50.
325s can only be dragged by locos and other 325s as they don’t have automatic couplers.Maybe totally unrelated but 5Z41 is three Varamis rail 321's heading to Wembley. It is possible they are picking up the 325's to tow back north? Passing the Crewe webcam at about 09:50.
Is there a source of this? If so and the DC gear is there it could be a good thing for varamisVaramis have bought the 325s.
No, not as far as I am aware, I was thinking aloud.....Is there a source of this? If so and the DC gear is there it could be a good thing for varamis
Not a public one, no.Is there a source of this? If so and the DC gear is there it could be a good thing for varamis
There isn’t a lot of DC equipment beyond the shoegears. All of the AC/DC changeover circuitry is still intact. It was mentioned on this site some time ago that the DC shoe gear has been removed from the 325s, but that the on board DC equipment is still understood to be intact.
I really feel as though this guy talks a good game but the reality is very differentIt seems the 321s are safe.
Varamis Rail CEO Phil Read from Rail Magazine last year "The ‘325s’ are not off the table for us - we believe there are huge opportunities for them. Our ten trains will soon be needed to meet our needs just on the West Coast Main Line, so we will need more trains to serve the East Coast Main Line. The ‘325s’ also have third-rail capability as well as 25kV AC. That is a huge attraction to us, and could open up new markets, such as Portsmouth."
…and from the DC lines, as of today. You Can now see the side of the 325's Painted grey from the London end of the wcml slows.
The ones I got were 325001 and 325015 which were at the end of the platforms. 325001 was in grey and 325015 was still in the red livery. Is 325005 visible at all please and if so from which side / end?
I am down tomorrow so will make the trip if it can be seen.
Ok, thank you. That’s saved me a trip then. The ones I got were 325001 and 325015 which were at the end of the platforms. 325001 was in grey and 325015 was still in the red livery.
