I'm travelling to Liverpool Lime St today from Birmingham New St, but there's a rail replacement service from Crewe, @ 1255, arr Liverpool 1420.

These coaches r likely to be busy with Liverpool playing Chelsea this afternoon.

With 26 mins between services, I want to get into prime position to get this coach. The next 1 arrives @ 1505. I need to check-in 2 my hotel b4hand. KO is 1630.

They go from what's known as the Horse Landing. Opposite platform 12.

Can you not get to Liverpool South Parkway or Chester and pick up Merseyrail?

Just left Crewe, 90mins late!! The queue for buses was horrendous & whoever made the decision didn't order enough buses.

I might still be able to get to match for KO, if I can get a taxi from Lime St.

Who should I contact for delay repay? I'm assuming Avanti as they were the ones who didn't provide enough transport.

Glad I'm staying up in Liverpool than have to go through that again!!

The Horse Landing, at the side of the station, accessed via platform 12 and the blue walkway, for the 12:55 rail replacement bus service to Liverpool Lime Street.

Of course audio announcements intended for the benefit of blind passengers denote the location by colour only.

Ah. Fair enough.

I'm not in Great Britain at the moment, so a bit out of the loop on things back home.

Whoever operated your original bus.

Your itinerary should show if it was an Avanti or West Midlands Trains service.

Is it due to flooding or planned engineering works closing the line from Hamilton Square to both Chester & Ellesmere Port?

In a way it's not ideal having both main routes from Crewe towards Liverpool closed, if Merseyrail were operating from Chester then it might have taken some of the demand away from the replacement buses

It looks like the RRB was run by Avanti WC.

On resltimetrains.co.uk, it just shows the scheduled arrival time into Liverpool as 1420.

What should I be able to claim back via Delay Repay? I ended up arriving at 1538, so 75+ mins late.

Total fare with Railcard & £5 discount (loyalty bonus from ticket provider) was £36.05 or £41.05 w/o discount.

Apparently the situation was equally chaotic after the game going from Lime St to Crewe. Luckily I had.a hotel booked in Liverpool.
