Personally think shirt without tie is the nicest. It looks smart enough but without being too rigid and formal.
Shirt looks better than a polo shirt on most people.

Well wait to you see the new summer issue.Personally I am a fan of the scotrail uniform it seems to be a good mix of practical use and smart presention
I love this thread. Surely the most important thing about uniforms is that the staff find it comfortable and is practical? I couldn’t care less whether it’s a smart or not as long as the staff are happy, able to complete their duties safely and the service runs.
I’m a driver and we’re still expected to wear safety shoes. Haven’t been told they’re not needed anymore. I’ll check with management.
Out of interest, how much are they changing?Well wait to you see the new summer issue.
They are issuing polo shirts and shorts which looked pretty horrendous in the pictures but are actually okay in real life.Out of interest, how much are they changing?
Thanks for the reply. Sounds interesting. Reason I ask is I've been offered a job at GLC, subject to the usual checks, medical and references, so was wondering what changes were happening. Thanks againThey are issuing polo shirts and shorts which looked pretty horrendous in the pictures but are actually okay in real life.
Whilst RSSB (allegedly, so sayeth the holy messroom truth-sayers from the ancient land of Åslef) suggested toe caps not necessary for traincrew - ie just nonslip is now acceptable.RAIB report 02/2023 relating to the fatality at West Worthing indicates (paragraph 128) that GTR staff who require access to the track (which includes drivers) must wear safety shoes meeting EN 20345 protection level S3 (which includes a 200 Joule impact resistant toe cap). to be consistent industry-wide.
Thameslink called.Forget about ties, the hot potato at one intercity TOC are shorts. The TOC in question would have you believe customers have an aneurysm and never travel by train again if the staff wore shorts on one of their prestigious trains*.
