Don't think they would need to stop to change from electric to diesel and vice versa

Didn't I read on here somewhere that no electric capable trains were to be timetabled to run from Vic to Stalybridge all going to Picc.

That can’t be right. Both the 769s and 802s that will be using the wires serve Victoria.

The proposed timetable means the current two hourly 802 operated Manc Picc to Newcastle service is cut leaving only the Manc Picc to Hull TPE service using 185's from Picc to Stalybridge. There maybe an odd early/late services going that way but no regular electric service for now, still allows Northern to move electric units from North to South Manchester via Stalybridge if the west side is blocked.

Not sure if the 802's actually run on electric Picc to Guide Bridge now, is it worth it?

If you are at all concerned about - or just want to get brownie points for - getting diesel exhaust out of a city centre then it certainly is!

it’s a recovery timetable. Not permanent.

Isn’t that Stalybridge to Picc rather than Stalybridge to Vic?

From the December timetable the Liverpool - Newcastle services do call at Stalybridge so presumable will changeover diesel/electric there once its all signed off. Manc Vic to Staylbridge should therefore see electric services from TPE & Northern in the near future.

The TPE services to Manc Picc will in general be the Hull services using 185's so Stalybridge to Manc Picc will see few electric services in the short term.
