Hello there,
I am moving to Wokingham and need some information please

Since now I've been living only in London when in the UK so have no experience with discount rail cards.

I will be going to London couple of times during the week, going in the morning and coming back in the evening. The only discount card I could find is this:

Journey: WOKINGHAM to LONDON WATERLOO £21.20
Journey Details
Outward - Saturday 31st May 2014
Depart Arrive Travel by
08:56 Wokingham
10:09 London Waterloo South West Trains
Return - Saturday 31st May 2014
Depart Arrive Travel by
19:20 London Waterloo
20:26 Wokingham South West Trains
Ticket details
SUPER OFF-PEAK TRAVELCD £21.20
1 Adult(s) Full Fare @ £21.20
This ticket is only valid for routes passing through Staines.
Unlimited off-peak travel by bus, train, tube within relevant London Zones for 1 day.
Journey price £21.20

As you can see it's only a daily one. I want to ask if there is a possibility to have a month discount card?

I checked here and there and find some, however I am not qualified since I am over 25, I am not disabled, I am not travelling with kids or other family members or friends.

Any info will be much appreciated!

Thanks

It looks like you're a bit confused between Railcards (which are discount cards which reduce the cost of tickets) and Travelcards (which are a ticket type).

You can calculate the cost for any period between 1 month & 12 months here:

http://www.brfares.com/#!faredetail?orig=WKM&dest=0035&tkt=TRV

It's usually going to be more economical to buy them to cover 5-week blocks (e.g. starting on a Monday and finishing on a Friday) but taking into account Bank Holidays, annual leave etc, e.g. 1 month & 2 days.

More info in our Fares Guide - 5.10 London Travelcards: Travelcard Seasons

What times do you need to travel? How often - twice a week? What is your destination(s) in London?

You are eligible for a Network Railcard, but this can only be used after 10 am Monday-Friday. You get 34% off most fares in the South-East (and a few outliers).

That assumes of course that you don't make use of them on a weekend - when I had a season ticket into London I used it frequently on weekends.

I will be traveling on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, after 10am.Destination Central London but can't say exact station, I am a freelancer and my job places are different every time or week but for sure it's in zone 1-2.

Thanks for the answers!

If you never (or only rarely) travel before 10am on weekdays, then definitely you should get a Network Railcard (cost £30, valid for one year) and buy daily Travelcards from Wokingham.

On Saturdays and Sundays, you can get the Super Off-Peak Day Travelcard for £14. This allows you to travel at any time on Saturday and Sunday.

On Wednesdays and Fridays, you can get the Off-Peak Day Travelcard for £14.65. Combined with the Network Railcard, you can travel on any train at 10am or later.

Using the Network Railcard will save you £7.20 and £7.55 respectively on these fares, so the railcard will pay for itself in a week. You can buy a Network Railcard at any staffed ticket office - you need to fill in a short application form but you don't need a photograph. It's available to anyone to buy.

And if you find yourself working somewhere you can walk from the station to, you can use a Super Off Peak Day Return Route:Via Staines for £10.70 (£13 on weekdays, so not much saving). This allows travel to/from Waterloo, Victoria (change at Clapham Junction), Charing Cross, London Bridge, Cannon St, Blackfriars or City Thameslink (change at Waterloo to Waterloo east for these).

If you're near Paddington an Off Peak Return Route:Any Permitted, £13.45, can be used, change at Reading. Valid after 10 or any time weekends, though many evening peak departures are barred.
