Comedy seems to be taking over this forum of late. But which comedians do you like, and which do you listen to on radio?

I like listening to some Radio 4 stuff, largely:

-Dead Ringers (an impressions programme)
-The Now Show
-The News Quiz (these three comedies make up Radio 4's Friday Night Comedy Podcast)
-Just a Minute
-I'm Sorry, I Haven't a Clue

As for comedians, one I particularly like is Milton Jones (aka the one with the wild hair of Mock the Week). There's a few clips of him on YouTube and they're worth a watch, and his radio programmes have been good too.

Emo Philips
Eddie Izzard
Tommy Cooper
The Mighty Boosh

I have been an avid fan of Sorry I haven't a clue and Just a Minute, both are very entertaining and good fun.

As for comedians, I'm not really into most of these modern comedians, I'm more of a traditionalist.

I enjoy the likes of

Tommy Cooper

Morecambe and Wise

The Two Ronnies

Ken Dodd

John Bishop

Billy Connolly

Jasper Carrott

Cabin Pressure. Sublime. And ISIHAC. Both utterly splendid.

I'm going to be an iconoclast here and say that I think "I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue" is overrated and, I suspect, not as spontaneous as they would like us to think. It was only Humphrey Lyttleton that made it worth listening to.

I grew up listening to 'The Clitheroe Kid' 'The Navy Lark' 'Round the Horne' in the '60's....then 'I'm sorry I'll read that again'...think that was the title, (mix of Monty Python and the Goodies). In the 1980's 'Radio Active' was brilliant!

Milton Jones is very funny. He's probably the only stand up comedian on TV who doesn't swear and actually use clever humour.

For favourite radio hosts, can I say Alan Partridge fron North Norfolk Digital?

Hi.

Tim Vine is another comedian who doesnt need to swear. Although his humour has been criticised for being a little like Tommy Coopers jokes!

Nevertheless, I saw him live about 3 years ago on a show called 'The chat show', where he got people out of the audience and had a chat with them onstage.

I thought it was all too well rehearsed, until he got me onstage and we both ad-libbed for about 8 to 10 mins. Brill!

Hi.

Im sorry, but if we are gonna talk comedians (tho my other half will cringe)... I really like an American one liner comedian called Steven Wright. My other half just doesnt get him!

'i bought myself some powdered water, but i dont know what to add'
'some people are afraid of heights, im afraid of widths'
'whats another word for thesaurus?'

yeah... im weird!

No, there are some good jokes there. The water one was witty.

I agree with yoiu about Steven Wright, that thesaurus joke reminded of a classic exchange on Alas Smith and Jones which went something like:

Mel Smith: Do you know the average person has a vocabulary of more than one hundred thousand words?

Griff Rhys Jones: No, really? Cor blimey... (long pause)...what's a vocabulary?
