To be honest I thought the same as you re the joysticks and being a gamer (I too have a PS4) but in some ways it was a hindrance - mainly because the PS4 joysticks can be moved in a number of directions each but the ones in the test are horizontal for the left hand and vertical for the right. That means moving diagonally on the screen required a bit more thought and dexterity

Ahh ok, it’s what I thought the joysticks would be tbh. Thanks. I’m not too worried about the computer ones, more so the interviews.

Just had an email to book my medical in Manchester on the 22nd! Absolutley elated.
Been a long 3 weeks since my DMI! Applied for Peak Forest.
Congratulations, I got my conditional offer a day or so later after medical booking. Wonder when they will ask you to start.

You’re right in that the computer tests can’t really be prepared for in terms of practise material. I didn’t need to do them this time round, but when I did (and it’s the same tests) I found that just having an awareness of what to expect was enough preparation I needed. I didn’t even look at the practise material this time round (although at first I was unsure if I’d have to sit them) and solely focussed on interview prep. That would be my advice. Be aware before the day of the sort of tests you’ll be sitting, but don’t worry too much about preparation. Save that for the interviews. You’ll have shown good aptitude to get beyond stage one, so just pay attention/ read the instructions and be aware of what you need to do with the computer based tests. Hope this helps!

Ok, thanks for your help. Congrats on passing the MMI. Fingers crossed you get the job

Well done
Perhaps until they have completed the interviews for the depot you have gone for? Hope there’s lots of jobs going lol

Hope they have plenty of jobs to go around! lol

Lots of congrats on this thread which is fantastic, great opportunity to get into the role for new people and those who have been waiting for a long time! Well done folks...

I have never checked my emails so much in my life, just waiting for that "Medical Appointment" message. To be honest it would be nice to know some sort of timescale?? I work for a TOC and they use Talent Pools for TM and Driver roles but they can be in the pool for quite a while, hoping that's not the case here.

For those who are doing the tests - I think Stigy said it best. Having a knowledge of the tests is the best idea so that element of surprise/unknown is removed so you can concentrate on the test itself. To be fair, I brought some of the "How to become" CD's and used them but I found myself trying to over prepare so stopped. Just make sure you are well rested and ready to concentrate. (easy for me to say now - lol)

Good luck everyone!

Re the talent pools, I was told at my DMI that although they use talent pools it’s not like my TOC’s version of a talent pool (in other words an indefinite one), he inferred that it would be a relatively short wait and they’d only be using it so they had trainees ready to form courses quickly when needed.

Yes I was told that too pal, it's a guaranteed job if you're in a talent pool with Freightliner. Really positive methods of recruitment.

Thanks for the info, makes me feel a bit better. I will continue my unhealthy obsession of refreshing my emails!

Thanks, fingers crossed!

Does anybody have any contact details for the HR at Crewe (Basford House) as I may call them this afternoon.

Hmmmm, I guess I’ll just wait and see then! How do you felt it went? Where have you applied for?

I have applied for Crewe... I feel it went ok, they were really nice, but I figure they're obviously going to be nice to everyone and it doesn't really give me any indication that I passed... I don't like the fact we had to leave them with our CVs, as on paper I don't think i'm an obvious candidate at all so if it comes down to just picking from CVs im not sure I like my chances :(

Have my stage two on Tuesday, and my mind is blank for the MMI, trying to think of scenarios? When I sit and think of things I realise I must be the most boring person alive

I think the length of time people are given to expect their DMI outcome varies depending on the depot for which they applied. I know they’re looking to fill vacancies for Crewe and Birmingham as a priority (or so I gather?). I was told two to three weeks but I applied for Eastleigh and I don’t think that’s a priority which is particularly short of drivers?

Think outside the box mate. You don’t have to have exciting examples at all. What’s your background?

Haha don’t say that, I applied for Crewe, now I’m going to stressing when I don’t hear back!
