Regarding the Gemini B7TLs, has anybody got any knowledge as to where the following buses made their new homes?
703,738,746,763 and 786. I would greatly indebted .
703 - I'm unsure

738 - Andrews Coaches, Foxton, Cambridge.

746 - I'm unsure.

763 - Scrapped in Lothian Buses at Seafeild.

786 - I'm unsure.

763 i think is scrap. 738 is with Andrews, Foxton all the rest i dont think have new homes out in the public domain
Apologies, I didn't notice that it was already replied to.

Not there anymore I believeView attachment 97408
It's not looking the healthiest that.

This might be off topic but:
Lothians native B9TL's are mostly (if not all) have a voith gearbox.

Another gearbox option for a B9TL is a ZF one which are on the ex London B9TL's.

My question is; can a voith gearbox B9TL get swapped out for a ZF gearbox (or vice versa)?

Thanks.

It's technically feasible, but why would any company bother? If a Voith fails you just repair, rebuild or find another one.

Only vehicles I've driven were semi auto Leyland Tigers converted to manual as the gearbox was made out of chocolate - and one former Voith Ailsa that was converted to SCG as a trial.

Can't think of any reason why Lothian would entertain the idea of changing gearboxes en masse?

I'm pretty sure most native B9TL are being replaced over the next few years anyway so I don't see the point..

Spotted one of the new B5TLs at Marine this afternoon. Couldn't ID it though.

I think 900-912 excluding 905/906 will be the next B9TLs to get withdrawn
It’s been said widely that the 08 plates are the ones going first so the ones you’ve mentioned would hardly come as a surprise. Numbers would suggest that at least some of the 2009 Gemini2 B9TL’s might move to reserve and some sold as well, assuming no majorly dramatic increase in service (ie close to pre pandemic levels) which seems unlikely.

The vast majority of vehicles remaining in the fleet with blue interiors should be withdrawn/sold within something like the next 2 years, possibly not even as long as that.

I wonder if a few of these Lothian allocated B5TL’s might be 71 plates, certainly the ECB ones seem very probable to be.

I remember people saying the new buses were built to a cheaper spec, I do find the SmartSeat’s comfier. USB’s fit in a better place as well, although possibly harder to spot for some. The only thing that I’d say makes them look cheaper is the return to strip lights, even the staircase being missing isn’t that bad in my view. Definitely welcomed additions to the fleet.

Speaking of blue interior, I wonder what will replace 171-175 if anything? More Evoras perhaps?

They're still on the official fleet list, for now at least. My money would be on 1-10 going along with them whenever 170-175 are replaced. Standard length 12m MCVs with a more basic interior perhaps?

The roadworks at Duddingston / Willowbrae have been removed today so hopefully the new buses can return to the 44 tomorrow.

Why would the roadworks affect the bus choice on the 44? Sorry for the potentially ignorant sounding question, but I'm just curious.

Trackers are not in the new vehicles yet, so the delays caused trackers to display inaccurate info. As mentioned in this thread this caused issues for drivers, passengers & controllers in the garage.
