I had 105 down as having been at Widnes in March - do you mean 110 which I have seen suggested elsewhere having returned to Chester on Friday?
105 was at Widnes in March, but went there recently because it had a fight with a tree near Pontyclun on 5th October hence why its been there a month.

Ah, that makes sense then. Must have missed it's clash with a tree - thanks for confirming :)

Can anyone provide an update on 153 refurb progress? Something came down with the Fishguard stock (325+968) from Canton last Friday to Swansea and went into Landore. A bit later something came out and went ecs to Canton. Was it a completed 935 being replaced by one of the later acquisitions, and if so, which one?

I believe all are in TfW livery apart from the four last minute additions which are in EM livery with a GW interior.

The unit drawings on RTT are wrong btw, many 150 and 153s in the old livery are shown as already repainted, and many repainted 150, 153 and also some 175s are shown as not repainted, so don’t use that as a guideline, people

325 and 968 went back to Swansea and worked the Fishguard.

153972 went in this week with 153935 returning
Thanks. Presumably 972 and the next one in will get the lite treatment as a follow-on, and the last two in will get the full monty.

Reportedly 150227 has replaced 150282 for refurbishment at Canton.

I believe there are none left with GA or EM interior now, just three with ex-FGW interior and the rest TfW.

Thanks for that - I presume you mean 153 968 and 153 914?

So only the four ex-EMT Class 153 sets to complete now.

153 968 and 153 972 in Landore being worked on and 153 918 and 153 982 yet to go in.

Today 150241/257/259/267/281/285 and 153323/921/982 are all working Manchester Swansea services, to my disgust, with all services from 1330 to 1830 from Manchester using one or two of the above.

Oddly, according to RealTime Trains, 170202 came off a Maesteg service and straight onto a service to Llandudno Junction!

Thumbnail images show screenshots of RealTime Trains showing a somewhat unusual array of allocations today, including 150s and 153s managing the bulk of Manchester Swansea today and 170202 working to Llandudno Junction.

I think there is always a 175 booked on a Sunday to do a Cardiff to Maesteg run and return. I was waiting at Bridgend one Sunday and saw a 150 on a Manchester service followed by a 175 on a Maesteg to Cardiff which seemed the wrong way around!

i didn't think the 170s are cleared for this route or have train crew appropriately trained

Yes, I know - have seen 175s on Maesteg plenty of times, but not a 170 going to North Wales, or anywhere other than Maesteg, Ebbw Vale or Gloucester, for that matter.

I'm not sure if you're aware, but the network was a wee bit disrupted yesterday. The fact they've found units to run these services at all is pretty good going, given how may ended up in the wrong place, and that at least 3 suffered storm damage.

Also, RTT isn't all that accurate when it comes to TFW allocations, and this 170 example is a case in point. There is no chance you'll ever see a 170 on this service, and indeed it's actually a 158.

It might, but it's not that easy to swap the 150 and 175 around if the former is starting it's day in Crewe and the latter in Cardiff.

Fully agree. Also even at the best off times its good to see a 150 on the Manchester to Cardiff before the 197s replace them.
However good to see tfw making an effort after yesterday's weather.

The 175 does the North wales service after returning from Maesteg. The 150's/153's on the marches on Sunday are probably to get units back in the right places ready for Monday morning service. There always has been all sorts up the marches on a Sunday.

Spot on. Units likely all over the place after next to nothing ran yesterday.
I heard a 175 suffered damage along with a few 150's and 158's that hit trees but not sure if they sustained damage as well. And the 150 that derailed.
