Firstly they’ve been going there for at least 24 years, I remember seeing one there at the Bournemouth Open Day in 1998.

Secondly, if true is there somewhere else they are cleared to run to that can carry out the work Bournemouth has been?

Excellent news. I maybe in London briefly tomorrow so hopefully 8504 will be out and about again then. Thanks for the update

Noted that 8504 is working 2C18 Rdg- Wat this morning then 5Y86 empty to Wimbledon Park. Can anyone advise if it's likely to reappear in service later today?

455851 has returned to passenger use today (2D18 with 455720) after being out of use since 25/02.

Three others are now very close to a month out of use;

455722 (15/03)
455909 (18/03)
455920 (17/03)

but perhaps they will return soon?

I assume this is the latest list from 2nd March, is there likely to be an updated list in the near future?

If it helps, my short form list of 458 & 455 that have not worked in passenger service for over a month is below, with the last date that I have noticed them appear on a passenger train on RTT. This date is not guaranteed to be 100% accurate, but it shouldn't be out by more than a day or so.

List excludes 458507,517,533,534

458509(27/03/22) and 458521(23/03/22) are the only other 458s that have yet to work in April.

That's very helpful thanks, i'm in the area next Saturday so wanted to pinpoint which of my list of requirements isn't worth looking for.

Well yes. As long as the 701s don't enter service I guess SWR needs to retain 10 car capability for the busiest metro services.

The May 2022 LTP diagrams have no 707s (or 701s) in. I assume 707 diagrams will be added in on an STP basis until they go in August. But it suggests that SWR have planned on the basis of the remaining 707s being transferred before the 701s starting entering service. The loss of 707s is filled in for by further movement of 450s from mainline to suburban work. There is a fair amount of 450s booked on Chessington/ Guildford via Cobham/ Woking diagrams.

Is there any difference in the cab set up times between 450/455/701/707?

If there isn’t then (traction knowledge allowing) it’s not a big deal to use different stock ad-hoc.
