Gl to all applying, I'd have applied but I've taken up a Platform job for progression with MTR. Looks like Avanti is hiring a ton.

I've thrown my hat in the ring for Liverpool as well as Manchester as I just realised I'm 42 minutes from the depot. Might as well.

Did anyone receive an automated acknowledgment by email? I’ve received nothing since clicking submit. Although it does show up within “Application History” - just thought a bounce back email would have been received

Had one come through about 3hrs later after submitting

I just submitted my application for Wolverhampton. I was concerned I may have missed the cut off the way the other depots are ending submissions.

Good luck to everyone who is applying.

Just submitted my application but considering removing it. After reading that MMI isn't recognised. I'm to worried to fail the CBI and it counting towards to strike.

I didn't realise you could apply for two locations?? I applied for Manchester but I'm actually slightly closer to Liverpool.

The website crashing and throwing me out constantly was an absolute nightmare to say the least good luck all !

I’m in the same boat, but I’m keeping in and will make the decision if it comes to it.

I genuinely believe if you can pass the MMI you can pass the CBI. They are literally the same thing. They are both questions relating to the same old train diving competencies. Only difference I can see is that the MMI uses a SJT before hand to generate extra questions for the interviewer.

You won’t see Preston recruit anytime in the near future.
It’s absolutely crazy I get there’s already 102 drivers at the depot but loads are due to retire and some are transferring to Crewe. Surely the depot that signs the whole 400 miles plus to Manchester and Chester should aim to keep the numbers high

Unless the intention is to prune the route knowledge there. FG have previous on that front with other TOCs. Maybe Crewe will take Prestons London work, or perhaps its Scottish work. Admittedly makes no sense to me, just speculating really.....

Do you know if it would overwrite a current MMI pass if you were to fail the CBI? For example, if I've passed MMI for WMT would that then be retroactively failed due to failing the CBI?

I agree... CBI is pretty much a MMI.
However, keeping in mind that there are only a handful of TOC/FOC which do CBI. I'm not sure I'd want to risk my passed MMI for CBI fail and then having to go through the process again to pass the MMI.

MMI is used my majority of other TOC/FOC compared to the CBI, that's what's keeping me on edge.

Need to look into more depth in regards to CBI. What exactly are the requirements and what type of questions they are. Compared to the MMI.

Yes. If you fail your CBI that's one life gone. Keeping in mind we all only have two.

I'm only unsure if you can have both MMI and CBI pass at the same time OR if you do CBI exam your MMI just becomes invalid and have to redo it. I'm still trying to work this one out. But I can only imagine you just keep both passes and helps out in applying for every position available afterwards. It's just the draw back if you fail one or the other.

Alas, only one can be 'active' at any time. If you pass an MMI, for instance, it will still 'overwrite' your CBI pass. Also to consider is that the 6 month rule applies, even to a successful interview - if you pass (or fail) the CBI, you are then ineligible to sit the other one for 6 months.

Last I heard the furthest Crewe will sign north is to Blackpool North for the Hitachi services. It would completely be pointless Crewe depot going to Glasgow as almost all services don’t even stop at Crewe. The main services Crewe should do is towards Manchester and the new half hourly Liverpool service and obviously Holyhead

I wonder if Preston currently do alot of the Birmingham to Preston section of route, whether Crewe would be well placed to take much of that work off them?
