Sounds like 33958 caught fire last night. Whole fleet was intact and now there's a massive gap in the middle. Slightly smaller if 956 gets repaired but I can't see that happening.

All three written off, 33956 chassis bent too much.

33960 is at ADL Anston near Sheffield for repairs following its engine fire back in July 2023.

A pity. I presume that was the fire on the M5 by J16 although I heard (Bristol Live) that was a coach.

Are West of England day tickets valid out to Airport Tavern on the A1 ?
I don't believe any day tickets are now valid on A1. TravelWest informs us that Rider tickets are no longer valid at all on A1/A3. First's own ticket guide (July 23 edition) states: Standard First Bristol Zone, Weston-super-Mare Zone, West of England Zone tickets or Rider multi-operator tickets are not valid on Airport Flyer services. For more details visit www.bristolairport.co.uk.

So it looks like the only cheap fares to Bristol Airport are now on Worstlink.

Can't you still get the U2 to the Airport Tavern?

m4-liveried 39339 is currently on the m4, with the information screen cycling between the correct m4 next stops map; 'welcome to the m1'; Bascule bridge is closed so the m1 is on diversion; and the service changes resulting from the BCT to First m1 changeover from September 2022.
Odd!

Edit. And advertising a £3.50 toto return...

I finally got the opportunity to try out the 73. I got a 57 plate B9, and boy, did it rattle. Sounded like it was about to fall apart. Some of the seats were also ripped.

It has actually been some time since I actually rode a bus, and I'd forgotten just how big the deckers are.

The 15 plate streetdecks are better in my opinion. I know some people don't like streetdecks. Also 37239/37240/37540 are the better B9s in my opinion. You were just unlucky to get a 57 plate B9 when there are 12 plate Gemini 2s also on that route. The first time I got on the 73 after it changed depots was 36233 BD12 TCU. Also is 35101 coming to Bristol?

35101 is currently at Leicester undergoing repairs. It has not run for best part of a year in service.

The Streetdecks are only occasionally on the 73. The B9s should be refurbished like 37540. But at least the B9 I got had a working bus stop announcer, and the way it pronounces Belland Drive is funny.

Felt extremely surreal taking a bus to Whitchurch after half a decade.

Does anyone know which Manchester B9s we are getting and how many? Also what routes are increasing in PVR?

When do we know about the new routes and which routes will increase in PVR?
I am wondering likewise but we probably won't for a week or two yet at least. I am keeping eyes on the Notices & Proceedings which I look at daily anyway for anything interesting.

Several are due for new routes and PVR increase in early April. I don’t have numbers yet.
First will be operating a service 22 from University of Bath to and from the Southdown area of Bath.
The current all year round 22 operated by Abus will sadly cease to run when funding runs out at the end of March.
The new First service will only run during University terms which won’t help local residents or school children who wish to use the service outside of Uni terms.

Some new routes coming in to bolster frequency on key routes, with 12 B9s coming from Oldham.

Changes to 8, 24, 36, new 5, 15, 41, 77, I’ve heard 48A renumbered to 46, some 48 journeys diverted via Oldbury Court and numbered 47.

Do you know what any of the changes to the 8/24/36 are, or any further details on the 5/15/41/77?

I think it's nuts that the 74 has a frequency 3 buses per hour and the 73 only has a frequency of 2 buses per hour, despite the fact that the 73 is cross-city and the 74 is so similar but considerably shorter.
