Well I had the unfortunate opportunity to ride on one of the 'new' Pulsars.
I can confirm that 3771 CX58 EWL has probably the worst ride quality that I have ever experienced.
It was so so loud with the bus slamming into every uneven surface on the road, not to mention the constant loud rattling.
‘3771’ isn’t one of the ‘new pulsars’, it arrived on long term loan for an immediate replacement for 3573, I do agree that it rattles a lot, more so from how long its been allocated to X38s, but it’s a solid & reliable bus.

I wonder if they have fixed the front nearside headlight panel yet? Yesterday, another driver stopped it, as the panel was at 90 degrees to the bus. A few sticky ticket holders to hold it in place, and off it went

Great news that it is on long-term loan!! It can be then be returned for something better.

Not a huge fan of pulsars myself.. However I caught 3715 earlier and it was a really nice ride, so there are definitely a few that are arriving that are quite nice for passengers... Also sounded like the driver was enjoying it too

Edits on Bustimes suggest that NW's old-Sapphire-liveried Pulsar 2 2999 is being transferred to Leicester.

Meanwhile, Omnicity 3569 has been transferred from Derby to Hinckley to replace 3731.

Would’ve been around 2018 when the Scanias were painted into ‘connecting Derby’

You’d be correct, sporting journeymark & looking very smart too.
It's looking bus - I wonder why it doesn't say "Arriva connecting Derby" instead of "arrivabus.co.uk"

And they actually bothered to put some black trim around the windows! That can make a world of difference.

3736/8/9/40 were all painted the same way…
Now that you mention it, all the ones in Leicestershire seem to have gotten the black trim apart from the two first-gen Pulsars that got repainted into the Journey Mark livery.

3569 has been sent back to Derby in exchange for Pulsar 3729.

Re 3569. I am not surprised. Not like Tamworth would want a Scania

3731 has 12 months MOT and appears to be in working order (or at least in service) so what benefit is there with swapping it with another vehicle from the same batch?

Just two benefits of swapping it are: saves on type-training drivers and easier for the engineering team to have a standardised fleet.

In which case it makes little sense to send a Scania back to Derby, where they are very much on borrowed time. Indeed both front and back of Ascot Drive depot are rapidly becoming Scania graveyards.

I think you've misread as 3729 and 3731 (which it is supposedly replacing) are identical buses of the same type and age, whilst there are arguable benefits and drawbacks of having either 3569 or 3729 (age vs standardisation) there is little obvious sense in replacing a vehicle (3731) with a different one from the same batch in the absence of a major fault or expired MOT, neither of which appear to apply in this case.
Any argument for 3729 being more suitable than 3569 will also apply to 3731 so the fact that 3569 was intended to replace 3731 becomes an irrelevant distraction.

The cost of keeping an established anomaly vehicle in service is substantially lower than the cost of introducing such an anomaly in the first place as the drivers are already trained on the vehicle in the first case.

Could you elaborate on the vehicle types
3 pieces of life expired junk have come to Thurmaston in exchange for 3 E400MMCs. Clearly somebody is desperate to ensure sufficient life expired junk remains at Thurmaston so that customers can continue to experience their weekly breakdowns.

Hopefully the new electrics will get rid of them soon. Guessing Yorkshire couldn't wait for the electrics to release the MMCs.

At least Leicester gets new vehicles with more electric's due as well.

Today, all but six of Arriva's electric buses are in service. Here are today's unusual allocations, according to Bustimes, as of the time of writing:

8000 - 85
8001 - 31
8006 - 31A (initially on the regular routes of the 50/51)
8011 - 84
8012 - 85
8016 - 85
8020 - 104, then 127
8023 - 27

The electric buses often get allocated to other routes on Sundays as they are interworked throughout the day.
