The electric buses often get allocated to other routes on Sundays as they are interworked throughout the day.
Seem to be the new normal for Sunday's
I thought this was a possibility but it's taken a while for this scenario to materialise.

DM01-MD also seems to be less well-used on Sundays despite being the newest bus in the fleet. I assume it's because it's a non-standard vehicle type.

Today, all but six of Arriva's electric buses are in service. Here are today's unusual allocations, according to Bustimes, as of the time of writing:

8000 - 85
8001 - 31
8006 - 31A (initially on the regular routes of the 50/51)
8011 - 84
8012 - 85
8016 - 85
8020 - 104, then 127
8023 - 27
Most of those are perfectly normal on Sundays. They will change during the day as the driver takes the bus with him if/when he later does a different route.

3 pieces of life expired junk have come to Thurmaston in exchange for 3 E400MMCs. Clearly somebody is desperate to ensure sufficient life expired junk remains at Thurmaston so that customers can continue to experience their weekly breakdowns.
Predictably put on the bus graveyard route, the 127.

Based on recent history, when the new electrics finally arrive, the "sheds" will remain on the 127 - and the electrics will be on the "5" and "31".

I'm pretty sure the last time the 127 got a new batch of vehicles was back in 2002 with the lowlanders.

Speaking of the sheds, I've only seen two of them broken down in their first week, both times on the 127 naturally

Interesting to see that all of the ex Yorkshire vehicles that have managed to not completely break themselves to the point of requiring several days out of service within the first week (that being 3 of the six) were the 3 daytime vehicles on the 31A today along with 2 ex Liverpool E400s on the 31 suggesting these routes are not getting the same priority that they once had. At the minute the 84 and 85 seem to be the routes in favour (to the point of regularly seeing electrics whilst the 47/48 and 50/51 have worn out diesels).

Yeah, things seem to have changed a bit. The 127 mainly had MMCs on yesterday.

I wonder why the remaining 4 haven't been swapped over so far.

I would hope that they’ve been rejected given the mechanical state of the original transfers (clearly between half and two thirds of them being off the road each day is not a viable option in the long term).

Some of the 27 new Wright Streetdeck Electroliners for the 5s and the 127 have left Wrightbus's factory in Ballymena, according to a post on Facebook (with a photo of 8026 (BG74 DLO)). The 74-plate Electroliners have the revised front end; other differences to the existing Electroliners in Leicester include transparent A-pillars upstairs and references to Leicestershire the county in the branding as opposed to the city, complete with the Leicestershire Buses logo.

In other news, DM01-MD seems to have left the fleet.

That's annoying about DM01-MD as I wanted to get a trip on it before it went :/

31/31A had a right mixture of buses yesterday including a single deck 61 Sapphire, 09 plated E400 (ex Liverpool), 15 plated E400 (ex Liverpool), 72 plate E400MMC alongside one of the Max branded 58 plated E400s that I saw.

Arriva Derby VDL /Wright 3716 entered service yesterday, after repaint. I think only two of the recent acquisitions are yet to enter service. If anyone wants a Scania for around £14000, Bus works at Birmingham is offering some.

That's a good deal sooner than I was expecting. Also worth noting that batch is two buses bigger than previously announced (not the first time Arriva Midlands have done that where ZEBRA is concerned)

Does anyone know of the Electroliners are what Arriva are going with going forward and is it likely to be these that arrive in the North East for the Zebra and Levelling Up fund orders?

If we only look at provincial operations it might be too soon to tell, but if we also consider their London operations, there they still only have two models of electric double-decker buses: the BYD D8UR/ADL E400EV, which is no longer in production, and the Wright Streetdeck Electroliner. If they don't find another type of bus that takes their fancy then the Streetdeck Electroliner could well become the standard electric decker type across the group.

Arriva London have new BYD, ADL E400EV and Volvo BZL on order for, so I wouldn't be making any assumptions about what they would buy on the basis of London!

The first of the new Electroliners for Leicester appear to have been registered.

Another one still inside at Ascot Drive, Derby on Monday lunchtime.
Was still there yesterday evening.

I presume these will replace the E400's. Any idea where they might be heading? Derby could probably do with 4400 and 4401 back with pulsars regularly appearing on the 1's.

I remember Derby trying to get 4400/4401 back when they came out of the Aylesbury area. They wanted to put deckers on the X38 as their services were often overcrowded.

Not yet. There's still the rest of the Thurmaston batch to deliver first (presumably), and then it depends on what Wrightbus will send out next.

(* Assuming they were chosen to manufacture the Tamworth batch)

Derby could really do with doubles back, singles are on the 1’s as 38s are prioritised with doubles, 4202 appeared (shortly after its smash at Leicester) so that may enter service if it’s been repaired.
Any sign of the Tamworth electrics yet?
Have they ordered anything?

Unlike the other big groups Arriva kept quiet on their ZEBRA2 choice of manufacturer(s). But if Wrightbus were chosen to build all 70+ then it's likely they'd have all been ordered in one go, at least with the 31 January deadline in place.

They made enough noise about receiving the ZEBRA funding early last year for electric deckers for the 110, so I'd like to think so!

The current E400's need replacing either way, they are in a really poor condition.

Really poor? Probably send them to Derby then.

I'm no mechanic, but most of them sound rather unhealthy.

From a passenger point of view though, the interiors are a mess, I'm used to Arriva turning out filthy buses but these are something else...

But then, Tamworth to Birmingham is a two hour round trip and the E400s have been doing it daily for 10 years, strange when you think the B9TL Geminis were replaced after 5 years.
