Trivia: Differently named annexes to major stations

Are you thinking of Wrexham Central? That's about half a mile from Wrexham General, to which Wrexham Exchange was adjacent, being at the start of the curve around to Wrexham Central (originally the GCR Shotton to Wrexham line).

Could Ely North Junction be grade separated?

I would agree the Beech Bank, Queen Adelaide Way, A142 route is a popular route for cars and regularly use it for my journeys from Kent to Kings Lynn. However, the Ely to Norwich line's bridge over Queen Adelaide Way has a height limit sign of 3.5 metres, so HGVs etc would likely use Bald...

19th July Lockdown Easing - Observations and Compliance

I'm with Bertie the Bus, 35B and Yorkshire Bear. I too detect an unpleasant approach from several posters on R UK Forum threads on Covid, whereby they seem determined to 'win the argument', regardless of other approaches which are more considerate of others. I determine my actions and...

    A New Station Called !

Perhaps some modification to the station's loudspeakers could alleviate the disturbance? I used to catch London bound trains at Billingshurst from 1995 to 2008 and remember being impressed by the directional loudspeakers which resulted in announcements for platform 1 being inaudible from...

    Vaccine side effects?

I had my first dose of the AZ vaccine in early March with no side effects whatsoever. My wife had hers on the next day and suffered cold chills during the next night, all side effects had cleared 24 hrs after the vaccination though. We did report her side effects to the MHRA Yellow Card...

    Rail Operating Centre reliabilty

The classic data centre failure I came across in the past was where every test worked beautifully, but when a longer term power outage happened, the generators failed after several hours as no-one had arranged to refill the fuel tanks when live running.

    Renaming stations with unsavoury links

Please check your dates. Christs Hospital school only opened in Sussex in 1902. Before that, it was housed in premises in London and Hertford.

Book recently learned of -- known to anyone?

I have just read the first five chapters of the French section on Google. I found it quite captivating, well written in a narrative fashion and have just purchased it. I usually prefer more detailed documents a la Wild Swan, OPC style, but this will make a pleasant diversionary read.
