Others are welcome to their own opinions, but I never got the appeal of puffer jackets even the first time around in the 1990s. Why would you want to look like Bibendum*?

(*- let's see who understands that one ;) )

Very nice! An able replacement!
Next time you wash it, get a Grangers down wash kit from your local Go Outdoors, which has a bottle of specialist down wash and a set of spiky rubber balls to chuck in the tumble drier (at low heat for 20 mins at a time, then let it cool before giving it another 20 mins......repeat until dry)
The balls make a right racket in the drum, but it stops the down clumping up as mentioned by an earlier poster.

Patagonia is my go-to brand. Ethical company and very well made functional outdoor inspired gear made in factories where staff are paid properly. It also seems to fit me very nicely.

I don't like spending a lot of money on clothes, so I go to Matalan and Primark. I do prefer to spend more money on footwear though, so I go to Clarks for smart shoes and Decathlon for everything else.

I don’t own a puffer, but my quilted Belstaffs etc. say not to add conditioner when you machine wash them. I presume it does something to the filling(?) as I can’t think of any other reason. Apologies if this is common knowledge!

I mean I am a retired model tbf, so probably not a fair comparison in that I wouldn’t say clothes are completely transformational, but I appreciate it ;)

Why not replace white with yellow, I thought today. Colour coordination and that :D

Does @TT-ONR-NRN win some sort of award for the most changes of avatar/profile picture?

I don't have one myself, but the yellow one is probably my favourite of the TNF jackets.

Love the matching beanie too btw

I’d never noticed North Face puffas before … saw three today!

Obviously common ;)

Never seen anyone else with my jacket :D

My current favourite is animal, their cotton t shirts and hoodie are very comfy and reasonably priced at £20 for the shirts and £40 for a hoodie. Even better if you volunteer for scours, work in emergency services or military or even a caravan club member as you get a discount.

Since early 2023, I have graviated towards Twisted Soul - one of the brands available at Officer's Club - as my preferred option for jumpers, shorts and joggers when not on a budget (if I am, Primark more than suffices). Their styles/designs really appeal to me, which may be a bit surprising as I often come across, on this site at least, as a massive railway nerd/geek and Twisted Soul could be considered the polar opposite of that, but what can I say, subverting expections is kinda my thing. Out of all the Twisted Soul items I currently own, the one I've thrown on most often is the light powder blue jumper, most often under my sleeveless deniem jacket, both of which go really well with a pair of tight-fitting jeans of my choice, although a black & white TS jumper bought as part of my Christmas 2023 has been seeing a lot of use since late December. Comfortable and stylish enough without completely breaking the bank.

I don't tend to go for the likes of puffer jackets myself, they just don't appeal to me. Plus if you were to take one off me, it would look like a cheap Russian nesting doll knockoff, I'm that skinny lol Leather and deniem jackets are far more my game.

Footwear tend to be more of a mixed bag at the moment, two own-brand pairs of basic shoes from Primark (black/white) and Matalan (navy blue/white) have seen me through most of 2023/early 2024, though heavy, constant use has worn both pairs right down and they'll likely be worn out completely within the year. I do have a pair of black Converse boots, but they've barely seen any use this past year for one reason or another.

Probably the best ‘jacket’ I’ve ever had is this smock made by Mousqueton. It’s made of canvas sail cloth, it’s pretty waterproof and incredibly hardwearing, robust and very comfortable to wear. It should keep me going for the next twenty years at least.
