Thanks for that, both. Just missed that one but saw the earlier eastbound from the Huyton footpath and the westbound when I'd reach the station. They both flew through and I didn't get a chance to take a photo!

Just logged in and saw the latest posts about the test train(s). Was putting my shoes on to dash around to the Huyton footpath when I heard it go past. It appeared to be going at a fair pace. Very strange to hear a sort of high pitched whirring sound instead of the low rumble of the diesels...

I forgot to mention that the steps up to Huyton Station are now in use. There's a temporary light fixed to the handrail at the top of the steps, until the lamp post is installed.

Some of the wiring over track 3 at Huyton Station and track 1 just east of platform 1 still has temporary belt and pulley fixings and there's still a few bits to be secured adjacent to the footpath. There's a third wire eastwards over track 3 starting from the stanchion next to the BT car...

I've just been on Platform 3 at Huyton. The eastbound wire streches as far as one can see both from the platform and from the footpath. An orangeman, who was waiting for a cherrypicker to pick him up, said they hoped to get a second eastbound wire up, overnight. He said he'd been seconded up...

Lots of activity, at lunchtime, east of Huyton Station towards Huyton Junction. At least 5 cherry pickers at work on wiring over tracks 1 and 2.

11) These steps have been blocked off for weeks (probably a couple of months now). I asked an Orangeman why this was and he didn't know. Very odd and very inconvenient if you're running for a train (often).

I've just come home from Huyton village via the subway and the railway footpath. It was almost dark so a bit difficult to see properly but the new second wire seemed to start/end just east of the station, one stanchion further west than the first wire. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to go...

1) at the moment this wire looks very temporary. At the station end it's secured by a piece of rope and some tape. Nevertheless, at least it's a start on that stretch.
