As I understand it the Huyton - Manchester services are as normal but I stand to be corrected.

The stanchion at the east end of Huyton platform one is now up. Also the one on the north side plus crossbar.

Re car park space. I haven't really looked, that closely, at the site since the substations were built so you're probably right and, of course, if a new station was ever built that would take up space, too. To encourage people off the road and onto trains perhaps some of the spare land, on the...

Thanks for posting your 'now' to Peter's 'then' photos of Huyton Quarry.(2822n and 0246m) If you could photoshop out the new houses it would reveal the Victorian houses which are still exactly the same as in Peter's photo. This was, of course, the site of Huyton Quarry Station. The...

Thanks to you, Peter and all the other contributors for the brilliant photos in your album. Peter's are interesting in that there are so few photos showing the former 4 track layout, stations and platforms etc

Yes, they have been warned they'll be billed for any work done. --- old post above --- --- new post below --- Yes, I agree. Unfortunately, some people don't appear to appreciate that a public footpath is just that . I.e a public right of way.

Huyton Footpath Knowsley Council have contacted me to say they are on the case and the damage to the path will, shortly, be made good. They have given a third party the opportunity to repair the damage and, failing that, will do the work themselves.

It definitely won't be NR because they haven't caused any damage. The council have told me they'll send someone around to have a look at it and will also alert the cleansing dept about the rubbish.

The whole path from St Mary's Road to the station was cleared of weeds and rubbish in the summer. I use it on most days and the damage was caused late last week, during work carried out at the adjacent house. Their property runs adjacent to the whole length of the wide path. They'd removed a...

If it was a council van then it must be them. I'll get back on to them in the morning. I use that path most days and when it was barricaded on I continued to do so, just walking around the barriers. If it was safe to proceed then I did. The churning hasn't been caused by NR but by the...

    Manchester - Liverpool Electrification

I'm on the case of the damage caused to the north/south part (the wide bit) of the Huyton public footpath that leads from St Mary's Road to the station. A local resident has been using the footpath to access his/her back garden and the path has been churned by mechanised diggers and not made...

Yes, really handy for the station and if you had a view down the track you could probably make it when you saw the train coming! Actually, there's been a fair bit of recent housing development around Prescot and Lea Green stations.

As usual some great photos! With 2031 you ask if the earth mover is clearing a future car park for Huyton Station. The answer, unfortunately, is no. The site is a former garage workshop and haulage yard which has been sold for housing. I believe two blocks of apartments are being built. It's an...

I live nearby and we could hear steel on steel banging right through the early hours of the 27th. Towards lunchtime I went onto Huyton Station and had a walk along the public footpath but couldn't see any real change. Of course, major work could be elsewhere on the line that would justify a...

LDECRexile and Muzer;thanks for your very clear explanations of the purpose of OFF signs and LDECRexile for your brilliant photos. These will become a valuable historical resource in years to come.

Are you sure they say STOP and not OFF? Those I saw today I believe are platform repeaters of the next signal aspect. I'm never quite sure why they are not the same as "banner repeaters" but they only show anything ("OFF") when the signal is not red. Sorry Dave and everyone who responded to...

I can cofirm there was disruption caused by 'over running engineering work' on Sunday morning. I was on the 10.15am train to Manchester Victoria which finally departed Lime Street at about 11am. The 9.58am to Blackpool North had departed a few minutes earlier. After being away for a few days...
