Alstom Coradia Stream (IC5) for DSB delayed until 2027

That's correct. Shame about the IC3 being replaced - they're very nice trains. Less said about the IC4, though, the better!

    319 Emergency Front Doors

The 319s required them for the line from Farringdon to Moorgate due to the tight clearances in tunnels, so they needed an emergency exit at the front. The Moorgate line closed as part of the Thameslink upgrade (it allowed the platform extension at Farringdon) so the 700s don't need the front door.

Autumn refresh for GWR Class 165/166 Turbos

They're not for the Borderlands, they are for the Headbolt Lane extension.

Overcrowding at St. Pancras (EMR) 03/12/23

Although you wouldn’t think so from the utter farce I witnessed when they had to split/re-join two sets as they wouldn’t play nicely.

Northern to London - could it work?

If it would need 110mph stock, then the 350/2s would be the obvious choice once they are off-leased from LNR.

Any spectacular use for DB IC1 and DB 101 locos?

Although ironically it is the age of the stock that is in large part responsible for the demise of the 101s. It is noticeable that DB is retaining (and indeed refurbishing for another 10 years life) the ICE1 sets - the power cars are older than the 101s, but the passenger carrying vehicles are...

Any spectacular use for DB IC1 and DB 101 locos?

Although the 101s are becoming less useful for that as ETCS slowly spreads. If an operator needs 200km/h locos then the leasing companies will happily supply an ES64U2 or Vectron that is capable of that speed.

lostwin - BR in the mid 80's

That's not 43180. It has a window at the rear of the van; 43153 and above were built without this. Second it is the first version of the Excecutive livery with the yellow extended back over the cooler group area: only five power cars ran with this variant (43125/126/129/130/151). As it also...

Train driver closed the doors on me purposely and laughed at me

I suspect “technically on time” is a euphemism for “slightly late”.

    St Pancras before HS1

The route was called the Midland Main Line before privatisation, wasn’t it? Which is where the Midland Mainline TOC got the name from.

Your Operator of the Year 2023

Easy to forget that the bulk of c2c’s fleet is now 20 years old.

WCRC Exemption from CDL (central door locking) regulations until September

Cost does come into it. There may not be a pure financial logic in such decisions (heart over head), but there has to be the finance there to get it done - or it won't happen. Just think about what you're saying. How are you going to get "new Mark 1s" with new standards? The Mark 1 design...

    Class 507 preservation society.

Another lastminute.com preservation bid... The chances of success are greatly increased if the preservation group has spent time building up support (financial, volunteers and contacts) ahead of a preservation bid. 6 months ahead of planned withdrawal is a huge task, even moreso give it is an...

WCRC Exemption from CDL (central door locking) regulations until September

There's a rather big difference between a single loco and a whole set of coaches. First off, the bulk of the enthusiast interest is directed at the loco on the front - so it follows that it will be much easier to raise funds for the loco rather than the stock. It is exceptionally unlikely that...

Worst: Where shall we start? SWR?

WCRC Exemption from CDL (central door locking) regulations until September

Those steards need to be trained and competent, too. Let's not forget why the Jacobite stopped running for a period earlier this year: the stewards weren't following the agreed protocols around the doors and the unlocking of the manual bolts and, presumably, WCRC weren't managing them, either...

    Class 222 refurbishment

Or neither. It’s simply that the seat cushions and covers are life expired and until now there’s been no funding from DfT to replace them.

Any spectacular use for DB IC1 and DB 101 locos?

Why would ÖBB want them when they have a fleet of superior Tauri, plus new Vectrons on order? Why would MÁV want 15kV AC only locos on a network electrified at 25kV? I could go on…

DB Cargo - Withdrawing from future Railtour Operations

Neither the stock nor the Class 50 is RailAdventure owned. They have been the train operator for tours using that stock. RailAdventure were also the train operator for 125 Group’s first mainline tour during October.
