Strathspey Railway volunteers stage walk out.

Curious to know if the incident you apparently refer to actually happened (I mean a Heritage Railway GM being charged with corporate manslaughter)?

SeatFrog upgrades and no onboard service

I had exactly the same with GWR on a Totnes/Paddington trip a few months ago. Train was short formed (5 cars vice 10), totally rammed with people sitting on floor throughout first class, no FC service of any kind possible, or any sign of crew (physically impossible for anyone to get through)...

    GWR Pullman dining reinstated

I've used the Totnes/Reading and return lunch services a few times in 2023. Typically, the diner will be empty from Plymouth then 4 or 6 for lunch might join at Totnes, then maybe 4 at Exeter where lunch service commences. On the 1329 from Reading there might be 8 or so who have joined at...

GWR advance ticket - train short-formed

I agree, you may well be correct. It just seems so totally cack-handed - successful organisations and companies routinely empower staff to resolve issues like this in the customer's favour (as the Twitter team are clearly authorised to do) but frankly we are not anywhere near that in GWR ticket...

GWR advance ticket - train short-formed

I had an disappointing experience today - I had a first advance for the 1242 Totnes/Paddington. I was there in good time and glanced at the "staff info" tv type screen set into the wall on P2 where it said re. my train "5 cars, full and standing, no seat reservations" so I went to the ticket...

    RealTimeTrains website

I don't think they are "operated by GWR", surely that is just a form of words to suit RTT. Okehampton/Bude is Stagecoach and similarly the Totnes/Kingsbridge/Salcombe bus which also features on RTT is operated by Tally Ho.

Dissapointment at London Victoria today: told not to take photos

That does not sound at all typical. I can recall very few issues photoing steam anywhere in recent years. If problems with trespass etc. do occur they are almost always the occasional "family come to see Flying Scotsman" types rather than steam enthusiasts. If you encounter problems like you...

Landslip at Crewkerne Tunnel - West of England Line closed.

DB Cargo - Withdrawing from future Railtour Operations

Don't think they have ever run to Minehead, but they have sometimes run shuttles to Bishops Lydeard from Taunton.

    GWR Pullman dining reinstated

Certainly on the Plymouth run you normally board the dining car when you get on and you can stay there till your destination. If it's 2 x 5 cars the dining car has always in my experience been at the Paddington end. RTT will of course give you the formation before you board.

Isnt west of St Austell closed anyway for resignalling work?

Ticket Office closures no longer going ahead

But why is it "mad"? At my local GW (Devon) station there are 2 "dispatch" staff (I presume one for each platform) who work on the platform, they appear a few seconds before a train is due and a couple of minutes later after they have dispatched the train, they disappear back in to their office...

Day Return today Sunday 29 October Scunthorpe to Goole with Senior Railcard

A good reason to always check www.brfares.com (where the £9.10 fare is shown) before investigating possible splits. At least it gives you a starting point.

    Help button on Gatelines

Truro up side has a similar set up, you hold your ticket up to a screen where staff the other side can see it and then let you through remotely.

    Pathfinder Premier Dining

Yes on Pathfinder, UK Railtours and Railway Touring Co. but not on Vintage or Saphos.

Disruption due to an issue at Dawlish (18/10)

Rather ironic that the steam charter to Kingswear ran virtually OT this morning and the return has just passed Starcross 10 early!

    GWR Pullman dining reinstated

I've never yet failed to get into Pullman Dining with a standard ticket but more importantly I think you're going to be in trouble on Tuesday 3rd October, possibly due to the Aslef strike the following day the GWR website...

    Antisocial behaviour on trains

It's against Railway Byelaws : https://www.crosscountrytrains.co.uk/media/1058/railway-byelaws.pdf RAILWAY BYELAWS Made under Section 219 of the Transport Act 2000 by the Strategic Rail Authority (the “Authority”) and confirmed under Schedule 20 of the Transport Act 2000 by the Secretary of...

    Ffestiniog Round Robin

I don't think so. The latest video update from the GM was extremely positive re. budgets, loadings etc. during June/July/August.

Passengers boarding train prior to display on screens

Re. SWR, that is not correct - attach and detach with passengers onboard happens multiple times daily at Salisbury (with a prior warning announcement) and the Basingstokes and Altons often attach/detach at Woking during weekend engineering work. There are probably others on SWR as well.
