I agree, you may well be correct. It just seems so totally cack-handed - successful organisations and companies routinely empower staff to resolve issues like this in the customer's favour (as the Twitter team are clearly authorised to do) but frankly we are not anywhere near that in GWR ticket...

I don't think they are "operated by GWR", surely that is just a form of words to suit RTT. Okehampton/Bude is Stagecoach and similarly the Totnes/Kingsbridge/Salcombe bus which also features on RTT is operated by Tally Ho.

Don't think they have ever run to Minehead, but they have sometimes run shuttles to Bishops Lydeard from Taunton.

Certainly on the Plymouth run you normally board the dining car when you get on and you can stay there till your destination. If it's 2 x 5 cars the dining car has always in my experience been at the Paddington end. RTT will of course give you the formation before you board.

But why is it "mad"? At my local GW (Devon) station there are 2 "dispatch" staff (I presume one for each platform) who work on the platform, they appear a few seconds before a train is due and a couple of minutes later after they have dispatched the train, they disappear back in to their office...

A good reason to always check www.brfares.com (where the £9.10 fare is shown) before investigating possible splits. At least it gives you a starting point.

I don't think so. The latest video update from the GM was extremely positive re. budgets, loadings etc. during June/July/August.

Re. SWR, that is not correct - attach and detach with passengers onboard happens multiple times daily at Salisbury (with a prior warning announcement) and the Basingstokes and Altons often attach/detach at Woking during weekend engineering work. There are probably others on SWR as well.
