Northern Trainee Driver process (Another copper...)

Just be honest! Say you’re leaving because you no longer enjoy being a police officer and that you want change, and you’re looking for a new opportunity.

    Newly Qualified Driver Relocation

You could try sending a speculative email to some of the freight operators, I’m sure many of them will have depots or want people based in the north west.

60 minutes, sometimes 45, help me understand.

“geographical discrimination” tell that to a migrant worker! Your best bet would be to relocate to London, surely that would be the most logical option in terms of train driving opportunities.

60 minutes, sometimes 45, help me understand.

I highly doubt it reduces the quality of candidates when there’s hundreds of applicants per vacancy! It’s obvious to me why TOCs put the travelling to work time as a pre-requisite, it’s advised by the RSSB simply to ensure drivers are rested, and to reduce the fatigue risk for a job that...

    Scotrail Inverness

I believe Inverness guards have a varied route card: 158s and 170s Inverness - Perth/Aberdeen/Kyle of Lochalsh and far north as Wick and Thurso, possible? Certainly some interesting routes, the Kyle line is very scenic I must say.

Are the Depot Operations Controller Mobile considered to be the equivalent of Qualified Train Drivers once they‘ve completed all training and assessments?

    Railway pension

Not sure where to post this, but given this is a work related issue, I thought the jobs/career section would be the best fit. I’m trying to do some research as each TOC has their own section of the railway pension, and that the auto-contributions will differ between TOCs. I’ve read you can do...

    LNER Intercity 225

I’m travelling to Leeds in a couple of weeks. Is there a way of finding out which type of traction LNER will be using? I haven’t booked anything yet, but I’d prefer to travel on the 225 rather than the Azuma. I will be travelling on either a Monday or a Tuesday.

    Maximum experienced driver pay

Train drivers don’t get paid more based on their ‘experience’ their base salary increases from trainee driver to once they’re qualified, some TOCs however have a post-qualiyfing period inbetween.

    Freight Train Driving

You could try with GBRF, they've got vacancies for assistant train managers and ground staff which you could progress into train driving from as an internal.

SCAAT for Conductors assessment, advise please!

I've been practising using the group bourdon download. My problem is that I can go very quick when searching for the single shape on the first stage with zero errors. But when you get to stage 2 & 3 where you have to search for two shapes and the alternating shape this naturally slows you down...

    Is it ever ok to....

Is it ever ok to 'Snake the Dots'? I failed my GBT a few years ago for going to slow, and an experienced driver told me to 'snake the dots' next time instead of going in the left-right direction your instructed to do for each row. Not sure if this is possible on the computerised version...
