Will the Thameslink Welwyn Garden City to Kings Cross Peak-time only service ever return

Where have the drivers gone? The current timetable is give or take a third of what it should be (atleast on the Welwyn peak service). Ok, some might be self-isolating but case numbers are now much lower and self isolation time is shorter so it can't be anywhere near two-thirds of drivers?

Will the Thameslink Welwyn Garden City to Kings Cross Peak-time only service ever return

Not familar with how busy that line is as to whether 7 tph is appropriate but atleast with that if there is one cancellation there is only 18 minutes between trains and then the next one follows 8-9 mins later. With 2 tph, 1 cancellation means an hour gap between trains which, while...

Will the Thameslink Welwyn Garden City to Kings Cross Peak-time only service ever return

Well no wonder, currently the timetable is 1/3 of the 2019 peak timetable (..and 1/4 of the timetable that was promised.. although I agree that it may not be needed post-covid). Yes, I know some staff may need to self isolate but I can't imagine its anywhere near 2/3 of staff. There shouldn't...

Will the Thameslink Welwyn Garden City to Kings Cross Peak-time only service ever return

Yes, I wonder if that promised Saturday service will ever return. At least it was in the timetable. Even in the consultations I never saw the 8 tph for the peaks. They've only had 8 years to get the drivers that they need, yet they still don't seem to have the drivers to run the pre-2018 service.

Will the Thameslink Welwyn Garden City to Kings Cross Peak-time only service ever return

I wonder if the 8 tph peak service that was promised on the Welwyn metro route will ever materialise? It's on this factsheet that from 2015 but not seen it mentioned anywhere ever since.

    Thameslink Services/Timetable from May 20th 2018

And this is meant to 4 tph, utterly unbelievable. Given that this is using 313's to Moorgate, what's the excuse for these? Surely it can't lack of route or traction knowledge?

    Thameslink Services/Timetable from May 20th 2018

There's also Oakleigh Park and New Southgate which have seen a net loss of services in the morning (but strangely not the evening) peak. If NRE is correct this is now reduced further in the emergency timetable tomorrow. It's gone from 11 services between 7 am and 9 am pre-May 20 to just 7...

Great Northern and Thameslink May 18 service changes

Lots more people more knowledgeable than me on here, but isn't the reason for the current 1758 from KX not stopping at New Barnet that the platforms are too short (Northbound)? So I doubt that 365s can be used.

Great Northern and Thameslink May 18 service changes

Hadley Wood isn't really losing out in the new timetable, it's currently 4 tph in the morning peak and will remain 4 tph (although it'll be 2 Kings Cross + 2 Moorgate compared to 4 Moorgate today). Oakleigh Park and New Southgate are definitely losing out. This timetable has wholesale changes...

Great Northern and Thameslink May 18 service changes

The problem is that in the morning peak Oakleigh Park gets exactly the same service as Hadley Wood even though Oakleigh Park has 2.65 times the footfall. If Hadley Wood can justify 4 tph, shouldn't Oakleigh Park get 10 tph?

Great Northern and Thameslink May 18 service changes

Looks like the Thameslink and Great Northern minimum service spec are available here: https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/525781/tsgn-service-level-commitments.pdf I haven't read the whole document but there seems to be 2 tables for...

Thanks, is there anything similar available for great northern?

Where's the minimum service spec available from? Is it on railplan2020?

Great Northern and Thameslink May 18 service changes

Still gaps in the GN stopping timetable. Currently only 1 service departing Oakleigh Park/New Southgate between 7 and 8 am, and that's at 7:01/7:04 to Moorgate. No other Moorgate or Kings Cross services showing. Currently there are 5 trains between 7 and 8 am. Not much better between 8 and 9 am...

    North London to Gatwick

Looks like I'll be getting a SDR between Oakleigh Park and East Croydon (£6.85) and CDR between East Croydon and Gatwick. 2 questions: 1) Why is the FCC only CDR between East Croydon and Gatwick more expensive than the any permitted? 2) Is there a reason the minimum fare does not apply...

    North London to Gatwick

Many thanks to all the replies. I forgot to mention in the first post that I have a 16-25 railcard but I'm not sure that its all that useful given that its before 10am! The general consensus here seems to be to use Oakleigh Park rather than any of the tube stations, correct? I agree, we...

    North London to Gatwick

Ah, I thought about that, you would have to hop off the train at east croydon to touch out, wouldn't you? Which sounds quite inconvenient, I forgot to mention in the first post! I'm not asking for anyone to spend any serious time on lots of comparisons, I suspect the gut instinct of most on...

    North London to Gatwick

I'm wondering what is the cheapest way to travel from North London to Gatwick. I'm travelling this Monday and need to arrive before 10 am. Will be returning same day in the evening (around 5pm). Looking to travel from Arnos Grove/Oakleigh Park/Totteridge and Whetstone (either or all of them!)...

How do trains access wifi signals?

Given the cost of travel in the UK against Germany maybe it's time that we get something for free which they don't?

    Virgin trains First Class

The sandwich and snacks are fine. 1E05 mentioned unlimited free booze! Do they come round to your seat multiple times? Free wifi will be useful :) Sorry for all the questions! I knew there had to be a reason why this was the first service with the cheaper (advance) fares!
