    Cancellation: Lineside Vegetation

Tree has brought down the overhead wires, I believe. Differentiates between them being EG a fault with the wires or a fault with the train causing it.

Heritage Railways' Policies on Lineside Photographers in Hi-Vis

There was one at the GCR about 15 years ago. Luckily he bounced off and only had superficial injuries. There have been plenty more trips and falls etc though.

    EMR refusing Scottish money

It won't be a company wide thing. What tends to happen is that the accounts team receive a report from the cash office or cash handling contractor of a batch of forced notes, usually the same type and denomination, being used in volume in a particular area and in response whilst BTP look into...

    Battlefield Line: travel to

That would be my suggestion. It's not a bad walk straight up the main road, provided it isn't raining!

    XC Voyager Refurbishment

I don't think it is as easy as you might think - I know there is some concern already about how crowded the wiring trays are on the 170s and the main original trunk is apparently not particularly easy to access either.

Rishi Sunak and the Conservative Party.

"Thanks for your email. We believe the Great British Public don't want people to receive disability benefits and consequently we fully intend to rile them up by targeting this minority. Kind Regards, Rishi"

Ex LNER (and Grand Central) Mark 4 sets for TfW

I'm sure you've said previously you can't think of anything worse than a stodgy cooked breakfast but that is certainly a thing of beauty

Heritage Railways' Policies on Lineside Photographers in Hi-Vis

Heritage railways are much better without the hordes of orange festooned photographers cluttering the place up for others. It was a period in time I hope is never recreated - the only ones who appear annoyed at the ending of such access are the photographers themselves!

Penalty Fare for being on wrong train by 3 minutes - Leeds to Manchester

If like most other places we actually had publicly recognisable train numbers the issue would disappear. I've never worked out why with a plethora of different train services with random stops the UK doesn't use them. If I know I want train 9076 stopping at Little Bigtown then provided you're...

Penalty Fare for being on wrong train by 3 minutes - Leeds to Manchester

It comes up as Chester and displays Manchester Victoria as a calling point. Both trains ran as booked, the Northern service leaving 2 minutes late at 1644 and the TPE at 1645.

CrossCountry Trains advert banned over ‘insufficient’ free food and drink claims…

To be fair that position goes back a long time - however there is something to be said about the changes to consumer rights on the railway that mean it is not necessarily tenable to be like that now.

CrossCountry Trains advert banned over ‘insufficient’ free food and drink claims…

EMR do compensate for a lack of first class service on board. Not sure what it is off hand, but they do do something about it.

CrossCountry Trains advert banned over ‘insufficient’ free food and drink claims…

Agreed - I think they flog the sarnies instead. But I've done a 500 odd mile round trip on XC today, out in standard and return in first and found all of the crew, regardless of job title to be superb and thoroughly enjoyed both runs - on the way out a 9 car 22x lash up and return a 5 car 221...

CrossCountry Trains advert banned over ‘insufficient’ free food and drink claims…

On the plus side SeatFrog is awesome if you know how to use it - £7 for a 3 hour plus journey makes using a Voyager almost bearable!

CrossCountry Trains advert banned over ‘insufficient’ free food and drink claims…

It's been like it for many years - must have been 10 years ago I had to play the pop quiz to unlock anything more substantial having been presented with my biscuits. A few minutes later I was tucking into a pizza

What are these berth descriptions at Birmingham New Street tonight?

I would hazard a guess that they mean "room for 4 cars" and "room for 8 cars" between the already present train and the signal - the signaller reminding themselves that the platform staff have confirmed that trains of this length will fit in the available space.

Motorway Driving - too many idiots

Reminds me of the glorious occasion I was doing 65 in lane 2 of a dual carriageway and an elderly lady trundling along at 30 with her right hand mirror folded in decided to pull out from behind a tractor she'd hitherto been following quite happily in front of me. Luckily for both of us I braked...
