    CrossCountry HST Diagrams

When was CrossCountry planning to increase to 4 diagrams (I know that plan has now been scrapped)? I wonder whether the 11:05 was the planned service for one of the additional diagrams in which case that would explain why it is timed for the IC125. Anyone know if my guess is correct?

    CrossCountry HST Diagrams

Good questions; I would also be interested to know the answers. As far as I know, 5 rakes of mark 3s (35-40 vehicles) were overhauled with power doors for XC. If I recall correctly, there were reports a year or so ago that an additional two power cars (for a total of 12) were being/to-be leased...

AVANTI WEST COAST WEEKDAY 221 DIAGRAMS 28/02/23-SX

Are these still valid beyond the timetable change on May 21st? In particular I would like to know which services are expected to be formed of Avanti Super Voyagers on Monday 22nd May please.

Will it though since, assuming the 'normal' weekday diagrams remain the same, RealTimeTimes (RTT) is showing the 12:27 from Plymouth as a VAR schedule for that week? The VAR schedule on RTT is showing it running via from Edinburgh to Glasgow via Shotts (I'm assuming it would normally run via...

The 'Carolean Express', new named service from LNER

Are they going to have a headboard and/or announce the train as 'The Carolean Express' on the passenger information systems etc? If not, then it's not "well done LNER" since, as others have pointed out above, LNER are no longer identifying named trains in their PDF timetable, not even the...

The following has been posted over in the speculative discussion about the XC IC125 withdrawals: Link to topic: https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/cross-country-hst-withdrawals.244265/page-11

    CrossCountry HST Diagrams

Mine were from a very quick look at the seat plans - just looking at the highest seat number in each coach (which obviously doesn't give a 100% accurate answer since some seat numbers are missing on some coaches).

    CrossCountry HST Diagrams

Ok, are all the busiest services (that justify/require the use of the latter capacity category) heading south in the morning and north in the afternoon/evening then? Or could the IC125 diagrams be re-jigged to have one set overnight in the south (where I understand they are maintained, at...

    CrossCountry HST Diagrams

Wouldn't a double Voyager (10 coaches) provide more capacity for the busiest arrivals/departures than XC's 2+7 sets? What is it, about 455 seats on the 2+7, about 220 seats on a 4-car Voyager and about 290 seats on a 5-car Voyager (so 580 seats on a 10-car formation)? If my numbers are correct...

    LNER - ECML Up to 0ctober 2022

Thanks, I'll try to aim for the diagrams that include 1A13, 1N36, 1Y00 and 1D30 to minimise the risk of an Azuma.

Thanks; don't need to restrict myself to travelling on Fri-Sun then :)

    CrossCountry HST Diagrams

With this is mind... ... are these the 'usual diagrams' for Mon-Fri or just for Fridays? The 125 group don't seem to be providing diagrams anymore and RTT only goes back a week (with the 12:27 from Plymouth last Monday apparently being a Voyager to Leeds due to disruption or engineering works)...

    LNER - ECML Up to 0ctober 2022

So, does that mean the diagram that starts the day at York, and the one that finishes there, are the safest bets to see an IC225?

    LNER - ECML Up to 0ctober 2022

Diagrams are now available up to Friday 4th November using trainstrainstr's link above. However, I note there are still five diagrams listed and the 225 Group newsletter 'LIVEWIRE' suggests only four sets have been in use most days since late Feb / early March. Does anyone know if this is still...

LSL running (and WCR try to run) mainline 'extras' this week on behalf of Avanti West Coast

I noticed the WCR train did not have a DVT and was not top & tailed. I assume Euston doesn't have points near the buffers to allow a loco to run-round, since the Caly sleepers use a second loco to haul the train into the platform. So, what hauled the WCR train back out?

Are the 'Friday Charter' services that have recently appeared on the inter-city website something different then?

    TfW DMU Availability

The three sets of 4 coaches (mark 4s) that TfW currently have were always in the plan, the change is that they will now be extended to 5 coaches and increased to 8 sets (if I recall correctly). As things stand, 8 mark 4 sets is still nowhere near enough to cover all long-distance services so...

    TfW DMU Availability

Assuming the buffet car was a requirement, no alternatives were available as a cascade. However, they could have procured something new-build for the longer distance routes instead of the class 197s. Both CAF (Civity) and Bombardier (Aventra) have advertised bi-mode units (although in the case...

What was going on on the Conwy Valley today (5th June)?

Seems unlikely on Conwy Valley, but trains do sometimes run (but ECS) and a bus does as well. For example I think it happened fairly recently on the Cambrian as the trains were running to test an update to the ETCS system but passengers weren't permitted. Also, on ScotRail I've seen trains...

What is the Point of 158’s on The Exeter > Barnstaple / Exmouth branch lines?

I agree regarding bi-mode 444-like units being the best solution. Unfortunately, it isn't the only strategy that can last into the 2030s and beyond - TfW, Northern and WMT have all shown this with their orders for new CAF DMUs. These units could easily last to 2055. One of my fears is that...
