Almost "Train ready to start" for 2023, and here we go for another year of red penning those locomotives/units etc.

Happy logging!

Apologies if I've stolen your thunder! I started the shacks one as I did last year and obviously got carried away!
Feel free to do all four if you want - I only did the other three first time round because nobody else had done so after a couple of days into whatever year it was... :)

Can't we call the thread "2023 Scratches", then we can avoid the debate of whether travelling on a DMU can be described as "haulage"?

I hadn't planned a full day out but then I saw my last three Chiltern 165s were out....

So far, I've not had much new, but then I've not been on many trains yet. However, yesterday I did score something! I have new sights too, I'll deal with them on the relevant thread if it's up.

Stay tuned for the trip report to see how I got on!

Congrats on clearing the Chiltern 165s, not the easiest due to some only working services nonstop from London to outside the fare zones (i.e Denham or Gerrards Cross)

Thanks.
I've done quite well since I discovered they show on RTT. Calling in at Marylebone on spec wasn't the best use of time.
There seem to be fewer services calling at the Ruislips now too.

Allocations showing on RTT certainly makes things easier when trying to hunt down the last few examples of a class, especially if they only work one or two services in the peaks.

Chiltern are still running a reduced timetable to what they were running before Covid hit, they probably think passengers for the Ruislips can simply use the Central line (similar attitude for the Sudbury stations, passengers can use the Piccadilly line even if it takes a lot longer compared to the train)

Yes congratulations from me as well on that! I've done the on-spec look for 165s before and it almost never works in my favour. I will at some point actually make an effort to clear my Chiltern wants, given the other Turbo fleets are done it would just make sense.

Just a lot of effort required when there are better things to be doing!

Thank you! :D

I seem to remember seeing that thread when it was first posted, but I obviously forgot about it earlier. I'm surprised how many entries I had for that thread already, given how little I've been on the railway so far this year!

First "scratch" of the year...

331007 Deansgate to Salford Crescent.

Just the single 331/0 required now. Will I get that before my final 195/1, also down to one required?
