First 40 on the main line for 41 years.

Worth it though. I bet it was most enjoyable.

West Midland Metro Tram 57 (Bull Street - Soho Benson Road)

A little trip to the West Midlands to meet up with @Techniquest, getting lucky as the pair of 196/0s were originally showing as being on a Shrewsbury peak extra, but they rolled in on the Worcester peak extra). The tram was also a bonus as it was a required move to start a walk. I don't think 196113/114 have entered service, so I've caught up with the active 196/1s, those 2 coach units are going to be hard but not like they are endangered.

Worth it though. I bet it was most enjoyable.

Personally I would have preferred 47712 which was originally quoted for the return from Edinburgh but as the Rolling Stones once observed - 'you can't always get what you want'.

A productive trip to Merseyside with a Cheshire Day ranger on the Thursday, I'm glad I put together a little mileage guide for Merseyrail as it helps to work out how far I need to take those units to clear for 10 miles. Even if my original plan for the Borderland line on Thursday had to be binned due to Merseyrail collapsing due to signalling issues.
