I visited the Glos & Warwickshire Railway yesterday, to travel on the new Broadway extension.
I arrived in Cheltenham by Cross Country train and caught the frequent (every 10 minutes) bus from outside the station to the Park & Ride stop, from where it's about half a mile walk to Cheltenham Racecourse station - terminus of the heritage railway. The return bus fare was £3.70 "Cheltenham Dayrider", but I could have saved 20p with a Cheltenham Plusbus ticket - even more with a railcard.
It was only after I'd walked most of the way to Racecourse station that I realised that, after I'd got off, the same bus route continued on and actually passed right by the station itself; but without stopping. Are there any plans to put a new bus stop in at the Racecourse station in future, and remove the need to do the 1 mile return walk? It was no great problem for me on a pleasant Summer's day; but what about those who are mobility impaired, or when it's raining?
As an aside, once in Broadway, I can thoroughly recommend the Good Beer Guide-listed Crown & Trumpet for something to eat; other establishments are, of course, available.
