Are 10-car Azumas authorised to Glasgow Central?

I don't know the full reasons, but only 9 car azumas are authorised west/North of Edinburgh.

Including to Glasgow (where Glasgow Ctl. and Motherwell platforms should be long enough)??

As I said, only 9 cars are allowed West and North of Edinburgh.
Any 10 car Azumas will terminate at Edinburgh.

Have 10 car sets not came up via wcml to Edinburgh during diversions? They are presumably went/came west? Albeit only as far as Carstairs south?

Also potentially 10 car 802s on same stretch from December (not in regular service but possible if a set needs rescued)

Yes, on diversions via Carlisle.
But they are not allowed to do Motherwell, Glasgow and Inverness and Aberdeen services.

Which all seems just a bit confusing. Since both Motherwell and Glasgow Central can accommodate a full 16 coach sleeper if needed. Even with a loco front and rear at a push.

Aberdeen and Inverness may struggle though.

Correct, you have. But for reason only known to lner, they can only operate 5/10 car sets on services that terminate at Edinburgh, which go via ECMl or via Carlisle.

No, as the Avanti 80x units aren't expected to use the WCML north of Weaver Junction (or indeed Crewe in the case of the 805s).

Yes it could, as they are a different company, so there process for hiw they use there units will be different to lner.
