1, An avatar is your 'First, transforming travel' bit

2, Your sig is at the bottom of you post.

Avatars and signatures are different things! ;)

You want to make a Userbar like the ones on my sig? If so then use Photoshop.

Create a 350 x 20 page

use gradient for a 2 tone colour

new layer

make a 6x6 pattern on the fill and do a bottom left to top right line on it diagonally. but add a white fill and transparent by about 40%

add text in the mid right and outline in black, size 8, outline 1pix

new layer

add a small image on the left

new layer

add another gradient but white forground, transparent background from top to bottom and set transparency to about 20%

finally place a black border around it and save.

I got my sig bar off a website. It generated it for me...

Suppose now you'll say I'm lazy!

whoa, I thought there is a limit that you can do with your sig

There are no specific rules, but any signatures we think are too large will be deleted or made smaller, 600x100 pixels is a guideline. We also look into any complaints from other users who think another user's sig is too big. Animated images aren't recommended.

you can link your sig to your fotopic/ flikar/ vid's or pics, or your own website

Indeed, However I think FGW had it in mind to actually place a gory picture in his sig...of course I could have got the wrong end of the stick.....

Ok. Its done in Jasc Paint Shop Pro 9!

Get some pictures, select different parts of the train, (wheels, doors, lights, etc). If they're all the same angles you might want to rotate them a bit. Put one picture then a single piece of text with a number, (in my case 4), another picture, 4, another picture, 4, another picture. Its best if everything goes onto its own layer, by the way, just so you can make sure its all positioned nicely, so you can move one thing than everything at once.
Anyway. Then I added some text (South West Trains), resized it to fit, coloured it, and put more text beneath it with my user name on.
Then, make an object, (square), colour it in whatever you want your background to be, and make it fill your entire canvas (project). Then in the layers panel, find the square's layer, right click and press "Send to bottom".

When your happy with it all, go to the top, "Layers," "Merge", "Merge All (Flatten).

Then, the final touch, to make it look 3d. Go to the "Effects" toolbar, "3D Effects," and "Buttonize". Alternatively if you don't want it buttonized you can go to "Image," "Add Borders" and add a 1px/1px/1px/1px black border.
