It was Rainbow 2 Nottingham to Ilkeston. I'm sure the route to Oakham was no2?

Thanks for the clarification

And I believe the 9 between Oakham and Stamford exists in some form or another.

Centrebus have also introduced the 28 into Stamford last year

Used to use this service back in the 80s as a kid. Bartons buses Melton to Nether Broughton. Bartons had a large garage in Melton, next to the library, although long since demolished. As stated above Centrebus run the 19 now between Melton and Nottingham Broad Marsh, 4 return trips a day I think.

The 9 between Oakham and Stamford these days is operated by Rutland County Council using a minibus, but is very poorly advertised, apparently to avoid the service becoming too popular due to the limited capacity available on board.

Of the old Nottingham to Peterborough route, the various parts now exist as follows:

- Peterborough to Stamford via Wittering - now the Stagecoach (East) 27, which began in June 2024. CallConnect also operate a peak-time journey on service 48 between Peterborough and Wittering. Prior to that, Delaine had operated the route as service 205 from October 2018 after Centrebus withdrew, but Delaine also withdrew in December 2019.

- Stamford to Oakham - now operated by Rutland County Council as the 9 on Monday to Friday, with an additional afternoon journey operated by CallConnect. Saturdays see Bland’s operate the route as the 185 alongside CallConnect’s 9. Centrebus withdrew from this section in September 2022.

- Oakham to Melton Mowbray via Whissendine - now Bland’s R1, having taken over from Centrebus in August 2022. Centrebus maintain a very limited presence on this section of route on college days only service R29 to/from Brooksby College.

- Melton Mowbray to Nottingham - still operated by Centrebus as the 19, having returned in April 2024 following the withdrawal of the previous incarnation of the service in April 2022.

Anyone remember when Centrebus used to run the 19 from Nottingham to Peterborough
Yes, did it from Nottingham to Peterborough circa 2016/7 for the experience. I was amazed on three counts; 1) it only cost £5.50, 2) it was pretty quiet and 3) I actually enjoyed three hours on an Enviro 200!!

Wander if Centrebus are getting any more solo srs

Some new/newer vehicles are due this year including some merc mini vans for the upcoming FoxConnect expansion in a few weeks.
4 EVM Merc Sprinters have been delivered to Leicester for the FoxConnect already.
There are a couple of new Solo SRs due for Leicester and possibly High Peak, not sure exact number as to whether the Leicester ones are additional to the extra ones due for High Peak or just a change of allocation.
There are also a couple of short E200MMCs expected & further Volvo EvoRas on order but precise numbers are unclear. Last I heard was most depots were due some new EvoRas this year but as with all such plans they may have changed with more for some depots and none for others.

I notice that Centrebus group are using 4 figure fleetnumbers for new deliveries. Is this is a sign of the fleet(s) being renumbered? For example, the 9xx are used for Scania 94s, Scania 230s, Enviro 400s, Volvo B7TL and B9TLs. Surely this is the ideal time to number the fleet to get rid of these anomalies?

Actually, the 9xx numbering range was for double deckers and coaches, and there was some logic applied within that - more specifically, it ended up as 90x (and 910) being for Scanias, the rest of 91x being for Enviro400’s, 92x/93x being for Volvos and 99x for coaches. (997/8/9 were also used for some short term loans.)

I see Centrebus 27 is becoming the LC5 the 27X to the 5X and the 58 to the LC10 in Leicestershire. And in Rutland the R2 is becoming some demand responsetive transport rubbish

Also from 28th April they're regaining the Saturday service on the City Centre to Birstall side of the that route from First.

Interesting to note that none of the March changes are on Centrebus' website as yet...

Posting it here as the High Peak thread is locked.

High Peak are to take on the 170 from tomorrow running to the existing timetable. Stagecoach have also registered a 170 but the service levels are not the same; running hourly Monday - Saturday, not serving Chesterfield Royal Hospital and only serving Holymoorside at school times today

Bartons Nottinham-Peterborough service was originally the 17, renumbered 117 in the mid 1970s . In April 1988 the Stamford depot was closed and services east of oakham abandoned. What had been 117s then ran as a 2 to Oakham or Uppingham.

The Orbital 40 around Leicester will be split in two (quote from Centrebus' service updates)

New timetable from 28 April

From the 27th April, the route and timetable for the Orbital service will be split to help improve reliability on the service.

The 40N (Northern Orbital) will operate between General Hospital and Glenfield Hospital
The 40S (Southern Orbital) will operate between Hamilton, Tesco and Beaumont Leys.

The service will continue to operate on an hourly basis on each service, Monday to Saturday, with significant improvement to reliability. Passengers travelling directly between Hamilton and Leicester General Hospital, and Beaumont Leys and Glenfield Hospital, will have the benefit of an increased frequency by being able to travel on either service.

Please note that the Northern (40N) and Southern (40S) Orbitals are not designed to connect in any way and through fares are not available to purchase.

The Orbital service continues to be a service which the city council supports and we are committed to transform it through increased frequency, more electric buses and bus priority. The first stage of our plan was delivered in October 2022, with the launch of new electric buses and the rebranding of the service.

We are currently trialling the split of the Orbital service, so it operates as a Northern and Southern Orbital to help improve reliability on the service, with an added benefit of an increase in frequency in some of the overlapping sections of the two services.

Our next phase, which includes an increase in frequency for the whole service, is hoped to be delivered by 2028.

Centrebus South 585 (YY15 GDX), caught fire yesterday whilst on service. Lucky it was right outside the fire station in Welwyn Garden City.

They seem to operate around Leicester with minimum passengers and it has been like that for years and i noticed the same in Grantham recently. Is Luton the same? How do they make any money, surely not off council grants alone?
