Is there any truth in this?Great
I thought though not all TFW units are PRM and have toilets locked out. Also aren't they staying long term now ?

Putting two and two together, that tally's in with what I've heard. These ex Angel 153s get PRM-Lited, which would then free up a number for bike carrier conversion. As I understand it 4 153s are being converted into bike carriers in the same fashion as the Scottish ones.
Presumably these extras are linked to that either for parts or conversion to allow the present fleet to stay in service instead of losing operational ones while they are needed.
Ah yes there has been talk of that. There has been talking of TfW following ScotRail and converting some with large bike areas.
Yes. TfW now own 9 153s (Not including the Northern ones mentioned). 7 are full PRM, 2 are PRM lite (968 & 973).Is there any truth in this?
Makes sense to just convert the latest ones to a bike carrier conversion with the relevant PRM lite mods.Putting two and two together, that tally's in with what I've heard. These ex Angel 153s get PRM-Lited, which would then free up a number for bike carrier conversion.
Who'd have thought Wales would become the 'Dogbox' sanctuary?!
You do realise that the bike carriers would require PRM lite modifications?I’m sorry but that irritates me. What a waste to PRM or PRM lite them all, then go and do a complete renovation on top of those and PRM lite others? Why not just bike convert these unrefurbished Northern ones? Is it down to ROSCO?
Well yes I suppose so. I hope they convert the ex Greater Anglia ones, with no seatback tables and no armrests. You do realise that the bike carriers would require PRM lite modifications?
Confirm that these are now at LandoreOnly 153376 & 385 now. 153311 gone to Long Marston, Stored.
On an aside from that rumoured that TFW have 4 x ex Northern ones 307/28/31/52 quoted. Assume for spares again.

153310 and 326 had already by this point moved to WMR for temporary strengthening before going on to Wales.Slightly off topic, but I found an article from a couple of years ago that says only 19 153s transferred from EMT to EMR instead of 21. Can anyone confirm this or is it a mistake in the article?

Renumbering of units and vehicles into the departmental numbering series went out of fashion some years ago.Shouldn't the 153s with Network Rail be part of the 9xx numbering series - therefore making it a Departmental Class 953?
311 stored on the west sidings adjacent to the Network Rail DVT's, with full NR branding still applied. The "tour guide" if you will for 153376 explained how Network Rail had 3, 2 were being used as Visual Inspection Units and the 3rd (311) was to be used for development processes. He also made mention of Network Rails ambition to aquire more - an interesting point. Was 311 there?
364 and 366 were dispatched to Sims Metals Beeston earlier in the year after extensive component recovery at Nemesis Rail, Burton.Apparently 364 and 366 have now also gone for scrap?
I went on Thursday by car and drove to the industrial estate next door and 311 was clearly visable.311 stored on the west sidings adjacent to the Network Rail DVT's, with full NR branding still applied. An over provision if there ever was oneThe following 153 four car combination were on the 1101 Swansea to Fishguard service today - 312, 922, 382, 913.
must be moving it for a reasonThe following 153 four car combination were on the 1101 Swansea to Fishguard service today - 312, 922, 382, 913.
To be fair, occasionally there are large groups traveling to and from Ireland on the ferry that need accommodating. I remember getting a work email about an entire youth orchestra traveling through Fishguard a few years ago. It may well have been something similar. An over provision if there ever was one
