Tuesday 321's from Warrington are starting to leave.

321311 and 321307

307 was one of the units used on the Farewell tour for Greater Anglia back in 2023.

Out of interest, what dictates what order things are scrapped in? I'd wrongly assumed that they'd empty Wembley of 321s before starting on the Warrington ones.

There were a few cancellations of the Wembley runs over the last few months so I can only assume they had a fixed time plan to empty the Wembley ones before starting on the Warrington ones and with the cancellations, didn't get them all gone before it was time to move the Warrington ones. Presumably the last three at Wembley will go at some point as well

Why did Warrington to South Wales go via the outskirts of London? Collecting more units?

Both units were stored in the Warrington area and nothing was added en route. No idea why it was pathed via London , I just film what I can as some sort of amateur record for something to do in UK!

Possibly a regular path exists on the GWML? So it could be easier to get the train to London then pick that path up rather than create a special path via the Marches or Birmingham.

Route clearance for 321s? They’re obviously already cleared down the West Coast and via the GWML to Newport - but may not be via other possible routes.

Does anyone know if this move tomorrow is 321 related? I didn't think any Renatus sets were stored at Crewe, let alone any unrefurbushed ones. Thanks in advance.

Well that’s a pretty definitive end to that project then!
I think it ended before it started to be honest but yeah, turning the units into baked bean cans is pretty definitive on where it is going :D

Another pair is off in the morning

321320 and 321326

Looks like it only made it to Swindon according to RTT - some would say that is worse than the crusher at Newport ;) :D

Should be finishing the journey today after it was cancelled at Swindon. Not the only time this has happened to a 321 scrap move.

Wasting no time in getting the remaining 321s sent away

321s are practically only with varamis now since eversholt are scrapping all their remaining 321s so how come they wont be in passenger service anymore compared to other units like said on the title

No one found a use for them on passenger services after other rolling stock was put into service.

Like the generation of rolling stock before the 321s they only managed 30ish years of service.
