It has only been re-liveried, not refurbished.

Steve White :
We are working hard at @Se_Railway to improve our stations and our trains.

The first class 376 metro train is now in its splendid blue livery. All 36 trains will receive a full interior and exterior refresh. The first interior refresh will be completed later this year ❤️

Yes we would like more done to them, but the 376s were overdue a repaint anyway, seeing that they're 20 years old now.

This is a really nerdy insignificant observation but I’m intrigued by the font of the numbers. It looks like they’ve replaced the blue letters in bold Connex font with black letters (that makes sense) - but again in Connex font, only regular not bold this time. I wonder why Connex’s font was retained?

When the 375s were done they had their Connex font numbers replaced with Helvetica. The 465/2, 465/9 and 466 have Connex font numbers, and the 465/0 and 465/1 when given SE livery received a smaller version of their existing New Rail Alphabet font numbers. The 707s have retained the Futura numbers applied for SWT. Just think it’s interesting.

Is it me or the door button area is white? Looks rushed in, interior isn't done yet but some parts to the eye look missing, unless its another 465 special livery compliance thing where they need those buttons to be visible. Then my question would be how come its not as so with 375 and 707s

So this odd white bit on the door panel is actually permanent? So wierd as the recent 707s are painted without such need to distinguish the panel. Is it due to the button lighting isn't as bright as on the 707s??

At a guess, the panel on the 376 may already have been white, while the 707s panel may have been painted dark blue, from new, to contrast against the SWT red... given both livery jobs are supposed to just be Vinyl

707s door button panel was red from new prior to its life on se.

It might be that the door panel remains white because the door button itself has kept its blue colour? (button and panel can’t be the same colour) Thats the only explanation I can think of.

Though I do find it very odd that there is white colour that also surrounding the panel. The panel alone being white is already visible and distinguishable enough. No need to add anymore white on.

I understand trying to make sure the door panels stand out but the way TOCs have included this on livery design has been inconsistent alot and lack lustre. Sometimes there is also such thing and making things too obvious for people.

Agreed, they've gone a bit far with the compliance here and it looks very odd

Currently at Sevenoaks, about to work 2F58 1820 to Charing X

I was on it on its last journey south prior to that photo being taken - it does look good. The smart exterior really emphasises the poor state of the inside, though!

Shame the 376s, like the Metro fleet, won't be kept in Connex white and gold. Following SWT's thinking, there should've been a differentiation between metro and mainline stocks.

Considering the sheer amount of vandalism on the Connex networks back in the day, I'm just surprised they went with mostly white at all!!
